Does anyone know of any specific trails/parks to go offroad, in or around palm springs?

I'm looking on maps.google.com and just looking around. I see there are some places you can just drive off the road??? Also google-ing but only seem to find ATV rentals and jeep tours. Just rather have peace of mind if anyone knows of any cool spots instead of wandering around aimlessly.

    Cheers! :drunk:

i was there back in june and did one of the jeep tours through the san andreas fault and it was ok. nothing hardcore at all, think we only had to put in 4wd once for a short bit through some sand but thats is. didnt have my truck so i didnt look for anything to venture off on my own. good luck finding something though!

i would suggest keep it somewhat legal...

especially given so cal's susceptibility to burn, it would suck to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and end up in trouble, either due to trespassing, being the cause of some damage, or worse yet, getting caught up in the middle of a firestorm...

Check out Berdoo canyon... It starts off Dillon rd and takes you up to Joshua Tree. Nothing too hardcore, but fun none the less.

I am going to run Berdoo Canyon soon... Looks like a great way to enter J-Tree NP.

I was stationed at 29palms back in the early 90s. We used to go out and shoot guns and camp just outside of JTNM. Most was easy stuff but you could get into some big rocks. You may even find some old gold mines. It's a real nice place. All I can remember is that we would take 62 East and exit off South a good ways out of 29Palms? Hell we may have been in the park I don't know. Somewhere by 62 and 177, nothing but wide open range. I think maybe between Joshua Tree National Park and Palen/McCoy Wilderness Area? There are some mountains there and should be a good area. Sorry it's been a long time and I was just along to drink some beer under age and shoot guns while still a boot in the Corp.

I was looking at the Berdoo Trail on Google maps. My truck doesn't have 4WD though. Do you think I would have any trouble with it with only 2WD?
