Well I found this guy (Jerry) from midwest Toyota in Kansas that is offering a hell of a deal on a extened warranty. 7yr 100K Platinum zero deductible for $864 on a 4x4 09 taco. The 09 2wd was even less, $7 hundred something. On the toyota website the Pricing for my truck is $1650. Curious to know what you all think since the Tacos are such reliable trucks. never did a poll so I hope this works!

P.S Heres the link to the warranties: http://www.toyotafinancial.com/cons...ageLabel=pg_VSAPricing&carSelected=Tacoma_4x4

The tacomas are considered Teir 3 for warranty pricing.

I vote not sure what to think. When I bought my truck the dealer offered me the same deal. I took it because I figured if something goes wrong it will more than likely over 700 so it will pay off. Haven't had any problems yet though.

Extended Warranty's are nothing more than an insurance policy. If you feel you'll keep the truck 5 years, then it can make sense, if you trade or sell your truck within 3 years it's a waste. If your worried your truck will have issues after the initial warranty expires, then it's nothing more than a piece of mind. I got one, because for $800 it was cheap enough for me to justify it; esecially if one of the 4x4 components or AC unit needs repair. The cheapest we could find for my wife's Equinox was $2400 for the same coverage through GM.

It's not all that expensive when factoring it into your financing. I got it for piece of mind seeing how I want to keep this truck until it can't run no more.

I did it when I bought my 06' prerunner just cuz I figured it was good "insurance." I've only had to use it once and that was just for the road side repair service-- Got a flat out in the middle of nowhere and I called their 1-800 number. They sent a guy right out to me and he did all the work changing the tire out. Like someone already said, it gives you "peace of mind." They've come in handy for me before on other vehicles when stuff like an alternator goes out and leaves you stranded. I think it pays for any kind of towing charges too. :)

I voted "Go for it".. If you plan on keeping your truck for more than 3-4 yrs... But like stated above it gives you a peace of mind..

Mine is Platinum too but cost me $1100 more.

I did it on my '02 Camaro when I bought it (7 year, 50k) and they just paid me back in full because I never used it.

Same deal on the Tacoma. If you never use it, you get all the money back.
This one is 7/75k and cost me $1995. It's called Toyota Extra Care.
You have to remember to apply for the refund and I think it is within 30 or 60 days of when it expires.

refundable huh, thats great to know, does it say it somewhere that it is refundable if not used...they never mentioned that to me, but then again, thats why its a stealership, why would they tell the customer everything when we can read the 1000 page book of 1.7 size font

Yeah, I bought a "platinum" warranty for $895 on my 2009 and nobody ever mentioned the word refundable. WTF?

I know the platinum toyota extended warranties are pro-rated if you turn them before the term is up. It in the small print on the back of the agreement. You can cancel at any time minus an admin fee & its prorated. I did this on my tundra.

You also have up until the factory 3/36 is done to buy a toyota plan. Thats what I did with my tacoma. I wasn't even sure if I was going to keep the truck. So Troy's deal or the one listed above is pretty good imo.

As far as the Toyota extra care, I had never heard of that, but it sounds like a great deal if you do not use it. & get a full refund.

If you get one of these extended warranties do you have to go to the stealership for services & interval maintenances? I like doing my own oil changes, etc.

I got an '09 Access Cab 4x2 I4 last summer...my dealer wanted about $1300 for the Platinum plan (extends the warranty out to 7 years). When I told him I was offered the same plan from Troy in MA for $800 and change, he immediately matched the price.

I bought a NEW truck b/c of the peace of mind I got with a full warranty. I bought the EXTENDED warranty for less than 5% of the truck's cost b/c I can now look forward to that peace of mind for 7 years. Should any of the major components go bad, it'll pay itself back immediately.

If I never need it, I'll have slept well for 7 years knowing I had it!
