Arghhhh.... Mid Atlantic emailed me today notifying me that their "system" is still screwed and the delay unfortunately will continue. At this point I really don't care, I have a long pull with that boat scheduled and I really don't want to break in a new motor while towing.

What BS but guess it all works out with the hauling you have scheduled. I'm impatiently waiting for you to get the new one to see your satisfaction or not. My truck makes a lot of noises I really don't care for, I just keep getting the dealership to note them on my account each time I come in for service. The next one on the list for me is the pinging on 87 octane. I know its only a few dollars difference on a fill up but I'm sure I bought a truck that said 87 octane use not a sports car that said 93 on the sticker.

Question: When you say your truck pings while running 87 octane, does that mean the kind of gurgling (not sure how to describe the sound) the truck makes when running at a low RPM while accelerating? Mine seems to shift into the next gear, most notably while going up small hills or inclines, really early...making it seem underpowered. And while in this state, it kind of makes that sound, before it shifts back into the lower gear to power up the hill.

(I'm a featherweight on the gas, so I'm usually doing slow accelerations, and this happens a lot)

Not meaning to thread-jack. PM me a reply if you wouldn't mind!

its been sitting on the lot in the back marked sold for 4 weeks! We're waiting for North Eastern Toyota District office to get their crashed computer system fixed. I'm hoping for another short delay as I haul my boat on an excursion. I don't want to break in a new motor that way. I'm thinking by the end of the month at this point.

What an ordeal. Glad you are supposed to get a new truck... whenever that may be.

Yeh, its a screwy situation... it has nothing to do with the dealership and the situation does not affect them any other than their reputation with me.

When you lemon a Toyota vehicle, Toyota handles the issue through their regional office, in my case North Atlantic Toyota. They secure the new vehicle, do their paperwork, and then turn everything over to an outside 3rd party, the same one that handled the frame recalls of the Gen 1 trucks. The vehicle and everything else that goes with it then becomes the 3rd party responsibility as far as delivery, paperwork, title, taxes, ect. Toyota cannot turn the vehicle over to the 3rd party because of some serious computer issue.

As I said, I really don't care at this point, actually I'm technically driving their truck, putting wear and tear on their truck, and it's only costing me for the fuel. In the end, I get a new truck a year newer, with a better radio, with zero miles, and no wear.. in return I give them a 1 year old truck with about 9000 miles on it and a noisy motor. To me it's not worth making an issue out of it, I'll make out in the end.

With a towing trip coming up, I do not want to break in a brand new motor by hauling 4 adults, a bunch of gear, and a boat.. that's not good IMO.

I've seen my new truck, I've physically sat in it and started it. The new pinstripes are on it, my vent visors are on it, my step protectors are on it, all they need to do is swap the cap and the mirror and I'm golden.

Tell me about it.... They're trying to blame a "screwed up" computer system for over a month or two delay??? Even the Federal govt would have had a system fixed or replaced by that time..

Good Luck though, sounds like it is working out, albeit very slowly.

UPDATE: I received an email from the 3rd party today, apparently Toyota got the info to them finally! The swap is scheduled for the 28th upon passing an inspection by the 3rd party and some paperwork. I have a feeling that I'll be dropping it off on Monday and leaving in a rental car until a few items get swapped.

Glad you are getting it soon. I took mine in today. Obviously they did nothing as expected (related to the start up noise) , but I went just because they were the ones who made the appointment for re-flashing my ECU; according to Toyota there was an update for engine related noise, supposedly it reduces the common "tick" noise. I haven't driven it enough to tell if there is any difference at all. I have a before screenshot of my calibration number, I will check later to see if it in fact it was really updated. Meanwhile I went ahead bought the roof racks and trd exhaust while I was there for some of the wanted noise...

UPDATE: its official! I have an appointment on Monday 7/28 @ 2pm to have my truck inspected by the third party and drop if off at the dealer for good, I got the call today! I don't expect to drive my new truck home on Monday due to the time it may take to transfer the cap and hopefully the 2013 mirror.

One step closer! The paperwork is done, as far as Toyota is concerned mine is gone and the new one is in my possession. The cap is being swapped tomorrow morning and I pick it up before 5 pm! My old truck sits in the garage with a big sign in the windshield that says its not to be driven and is going to auction.
