Fran/ Alex/ cam/ people in general. Few questions on towing the sunfish

    1. Think I need any sort of drop hitch? I'm not sure if my rear bumper will put the hitch too high causing the stern of the boat to be too close to the ground, or the mast/ boom which may be tied down to the top of the hull during transport.

    2. Do you usually throw the mast/ boom in the bed of you're truck, or just strap them down to the hull for transport

I would get a drop hitch if the stern is close to the ground, would suck to damage your fiberglass. I always strap my mast to the boat with a few floating cushions to keep it from chaffing. I don't know if you have a marine trailer or not but for my bullseye the best piece of the trailer is the 30' line attached to the tonge of the trailer. I can just detach the trailer and push it down the boat ramp and then pull it back up with the truck. My boat needs about 4' of water to launch.

Edit: I always stow my boom in the boat, but a sunfish is much smaller I would probably throw the boom in the bed.

No I don't really use those rear windows

    Oh wait..... Lmao

My sunfish hasn't moved from the boathouse in 30 years. We don't have a trailer for it. Spring time it goes down the ramp on a furniture dolly, it stays on the mooring, and it comes in for the winter the same way it got in the water, furniture dolly.

Debatable, depends on the criteria. If we're talking off road, we will never know because mine isn't going down anything rougher than a logging road the way it sits.

That was a half joking half serious question. Where are you going on expeditions to? Northern Maine/Nh/Vt? About the only real "wilderness" in new England are the above menioned areas.
