I always wear my seatbelt. I have a friend that doesn't. He's 20 and he's already been charged twice for it. Police won't give you a break for it around here

It's not about being a have or have not. People can't afford to pay $55,000 for a simple surgery over 2 nights. Thats 5k over the national average income over 2 nights. There are tons of hardworking self employed people who lost everything because of a medical issue. This is even worse when the insurance companies will find ANY excuse to not pay out claims. It's the insurance, hospitals and pharma companies making money and fucking over hard working Americans every single day...

What should she do then? Just die? Or possibly die and leave her 2 kids with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt? She's the companies accountant so it's not like she's a slacker and she still could not afford the treatment she needs to stay alive if she lived in the US. Hell my dad works as a autobody man. One day he is going to probably need medical care for all the carcinogenic shit he breathes in day in and day out for 30+ years.

The funny thing is many hospitals fall under the "Non-Profit" category and therefore do not pay taxes on their income!

Think about this: Now that the government is mandating the everyone must have health insurance or pay a penalty, the insurance companies can raise their rates because they know that everyone must have insurance. Gee, who do you think was pushing to get that law passed?

Here is what I say. If everyone must be insured to pay for medical expenses, cut out the middle men (the insurance companies). Just tax everyone proportionately to their income instead. After all, the people who earn their money are basically paying for the people who sit on their asses already.

Oh wait...I forgot that the insurance companies and the politicians who are paid off by them who profit from over inflated rates would not make a profit from this.

Lobbying is just legal bribery. I genuinely think lobbying is the biggest threat to democracy currently.

99% of the time what a big company wants and what is good for a country are two completely different things.

I feel more secure with the seatbelt on, so I would wear it even if law did not require it. Now if Toyota didn't make the locking mechanism so sensitive, I might be able to reach those items in my console...

It would be nice if the USA was really a democracy. Unfortunately we are a republic, big difference. :(

...and to the republic, for which it stands,....:oldglory:

Who said anything about Mexicans???

I simply mentioned an influx of people crossing our southern border.

These people could consist of the following:
    -Cubans
    -Argentinians
    -Peruvians
    -Columbians
    -Venezuelans
    -Brazilians
    -Bolivians
    -Chileans
    -People from Paraguay
    -People from Uruguay
    -People from Surinam
    -People from Guyana
    -People from French Guyana
    -People from Costa Rico
    -People from Belize
    -Nicaraguans
    -Guatemalans
    -People from San Salvador
    -Hondurans
    -Panamanians
-Anyone else who is not a United States citizen

OH...and I think somewhere along the way someone in a previous post mentioned Mexicans.

No one is hating on anyone of any nationality. I just get tired of paying taxes and then having a certain individual in our government ask to spend 3.8 BILLION DOLLARS on the "border crisis"
