Yeah I have looked around and have seen a lot of great reviews and word of mouth about West Florida Paint and Body shop here in Pensacola. I am going to give my truck a good washing this afternoon and see what all else pops up as far as damage goes.

Make sure that you push to get diminished value on your truck if your statehas it. If you have a shop that you trust and will work with you then I would suggestusing them but if you don’t already have a know good shop then I would use theinsurance companies shop that way if the truck isn’t right you can just keepbringing it back until they get it right and it doesn’t come out of yourpocket. If you pick the shop the insurance company will pay for the repairsthat the shop quotes and then they pay out and when you get the truck back it’snow up to you to work with the shop to fix anything they may have damaged ormissed. I had a new camaro last year with less than 400 miles and someone hitme head on at 30 MPH and I ended up having to go through three shops before itwas fixed correctly. Once I got the car back I was so stressed out from thewhole situation I ended up trading it in for the Tacoma that I have now and haven’tlooked back.

here is a link to the thread on the Camaro forum with my Camaro drama. Oh and take lots of pictures of the entire truck inside and out before you send it to any shop.

Thanks I will have to check into the diminished value deal as I have no clue what that is or how it works.

There is a diminished law in the state of florida and this is which would my accident would be under.
Inherent diminished value, also known as diminution in value, assumes optimal repair and is the inherent loss of value of property because of the stigma associated with its damage history. Simply put, given a choice between two vehicles that are exactly the same in all respects except that one has been in an accident, most people would prefer to have and therefore pay more for the vehicle that has not been in an accident.

I got the lift all squared away and everything is great besides shitty shops that can't get my tires balanced correctly.

Yeah I am not sure if this homeowners will cover the vehicle or his car insurance company. Then I am curious as to if it is his homeowners covers the vehicle repairs and if I then have to go through his car insurance company to get the diminished value?

    Yeah.
Call the local Lexus, BMW, Mercedes and Audi dealers and find out who they use for paint and body (if they don't do it in-house). Then use that shop.

Yeah I agree but anytime a vehicle has something on the carfax it makes people wonder if it drives the same or has issues they may not know about. A few k in the pocket would be nice to have being I could use if for the wedding funds. Definitely glad it was a moving car wreck. I did have a small accident on my last 2010 and was honest with who bought the truck and they didn't care at all and still paid fair value for it.

    Yeah.

It worked for me on my old 2004. It was less than a year old, drunk lady rear-ended a Hyundai behind me at about 50 mph and crushed it between me and her. It was over $13K in damage and still not totalled. Hyundai was not recognizable, but the driver lived.

I used to do paint and body work, and I let the shop know that (Berli's in Round Rock, TX, in case anyone needs a good shop in the Austin area). The only evidence I could find of repairs was clamp marks on the frame from the frame machine and a little dust under the paint beneath the lip of the bed (they had to replace the entire bed). I drove it for another year and traded it for a giant Tundra but eventually went back to a Tacoma.

Should I fight insurance if they don't give me diminished value? (What's a decent amount I should try and get or expect?)I am not too sure how to argue this if the insurance company just says no sorry we aren't going to give you anything extra??? Hopefully ill find the best Paint and Body and they will make it look fantastic with no blemishes at all.

No need to paint the entire truck on a 2014. There will hardly be any paint matching required to get it looking like new.

You wouldn't believe the amount of different shades of just one color. Sometimes they'll be five or more, just off the same paint code. Not saying this particular color is that way.. But a lot out there are.

BTW the paint sucks donkey balls on our trucks.

Thanks now you got me nervous again that my truck is going to be 5 shades of blue if they don't paint the whole thing.

Agreed on it sucking balls!! It scratches if you look at it wrong!!

As long as it's a good painter, you'll never see the blend. Because he'll pic the closest shade and with proper skills blend it right.

Course you might get one who thinks he's good, and have a new camo pattern blue... On the bright side, you might start a new fad.

    Haha

That right there is exactly why I have auger looking spikes in the ground and ratchet straps holding my daughter's trampoline down.

    Sucks about your truck.

Here's a couple resources you can look at for DV:

    http://www.diminishedvalueflorida.com/

    http://www.learnvest.com/knowledge-center/how-to-make-a-diminished-value-car-insurance-claim/

I work in an insurance agency in Ohio, so I can't speak to wht the exact laws are in FL, but those links should help you get the ball rolling. Just an FYI tho, the other guys homeowners insurance company is not gonna be happy with you filing the DV claim so don't expect them to help you very much. Also DV basically works in the sense that you get the difference between wht your truck was worth before the damage occured and what its worth now...again this is how it works in Ohio, but I can't see how it would be much different down there! Hope this helps!

Yeah def can't stake it down to much!! Yeah sucks a fat one. Never imagined in my wildest dreams I would have a trampoline on my truck messing shit up. I was soooooo close to grabbing a sledge hammer and bashing my bumper in so I could get a Bruteforce, but I figured karma would be a bitch and get me back somehow if I did that.
