At least O.P. has one of the best vehicles sold in the entire U.S. for retaining resale value. If you sell right away, your obviously going to take a hit though. My advice is to just suck it up, make it work for 4+ years, keep in mint condition, and you should be able to trade in for a full size with very high re-sale value and minimal financial loss.

Just curious but why do you want to run the fog lights without your headlights? I would assume that the DRL lights should suffice in any situation where you might want to have very low lighting at night.

I just got use to it. on my old truck I guess, that it was nice in the dusk situations to have them on, or since I back into my garage at night to have them on with out blasting the neighbors as i load and unload dirt bikes/hockey gear.
Its not really anything "wrong" with it not running on its own, its more of the preference,

I realize I won't be able to change the size, or the motor but I guess Its the little stuff that really irks me, and the fact that it feels like my foot is through the floor when I have 2 bikes in the back with gear and one other person in the cab. But I'm thinking I'm stuck with that out with adding something like a turbo

Mount some backup Led lights under your bumper and tie them into your reverse lights to help when needing more light at night. Or just switch control the lights you mount up.

What I was thinking.. It would light them up with a SC.. Plus you could sell it when you get rid of the truck since your so unhappy... Add some LEDs to the bed or candles.. Call it a day.

As for hauling-someone chime in please, but I was told that I needed to keep the truck in 4TH gear when I was towing a trailer. That should give you some umph. Of course this means bad MPG while towing, which may make you miss a bigger truck even more...And also, if the RPMs get too high just throw it in OD if you're cruising.

Again I may need to be corrected

It's a truck, not a purse. did you not drive, research, drive some more, research more then come to a conclusion regarding this major purchase?

It's a 2013 and you owe 7,000.. So why not sell it take the 20,000+ and put it down on a used bigger truck a few years older but with some stuff you want. It may depreciate faster, or the engine may not last as long, or I suppose you might have some issues with it who knows but at least it will be what you want. Right?

My truck gets up and goes just fine, took it up in the hills this last weekend, and I didn't come across anything this truck couldn't handle, if anything I was able to get into places I don't think a full size could. The tacoma being smaller made it easier to move around the trails..

Also I drove 150 miles to get there, filled up the tank when I pulled into town, I got 20.7 MPG
When I left I filled my tank up at the same gas station, drove 150 miles back home, filled up the tank again at the same gas station before I left, and guess what? I got 24.6 MPG coming back down from the mountains, so IMO these trucks are not that bad when driving a long distance on the highway..

In town I'm averaging 18-19 MPG..

If you are unhappy now, I don't think mods will help you love the truck, I say sell and move on..

Nothing we say is going to help you like something that you have obviously made up your mind that you don't like. Did you not test drive it before you bought it? Research it just a little??? You've got (arguably) one of the best trucks made and one of the highest resale value vehicles on the market. If you don't like it we can't help you to like it.

    Sell it.

OP I get where your coming from. I drove full size trucks all my life. Took me a while to get used to a small truck again. Only thing I wish I had done different is get a 4 door.

OP .. I felt the same way after coming from a platinum Tundra, but just thinking of all the (extra) stuff that I now don't have to worry about like upkeep on leather, electric seats-heated,cooled, parking sensors/blind spot monitor etc.. And the fact it's better on gas on top of all that makes me feel good.

    1 less stuff to break/repair

2 cheaper repairs when needed ( tires size for example 16's 0r 17 vs 20)

3 much faster to wash and keep clean

4 easier to do oil changes

5 size is way easier to park and drive in tight spots

6 MPG ... I know some say it's not much but I just took same trip I did with Tundra to state line and back (OC, CA to NV) and was less than half tank in Taco while the Tundy was about 3/4 and pricewise that's under fifty for the Taco and about eighty in the Tundra !!

So there's some reasons for you. At some point I may get another full-size but as of now I'm thinking even if I do, I'll keep the Taco just for the fact it's much easier and cheaper to hop in and go for all the around town stuff. The Tundra was only getting like 13-14 mpg tops in city but mostly was around 12.

    ALL KINDS OF SHIT

    THIS.

The real question here is the fact that you say you owe $7k on a 2013 Tacoma, how the hell can you be "stuck" with the truck when you've got at least $20k + in equity in the damn thing!?!

Pay it off. Then you'll really love it.

Sometimes I miss having a V8, but then I remind myself that my Tacoma is paid for, runs perfectly...and fits in my garage.
