I've had my Taco almost a month now...and I've been loving every minute. Been saving up some cash as best as a college student can for mods down the road. Well, today after I went through a light on campus as it turned green, the entire stack of vehicles ahead of me stopped. I had turned my head for literally about 2 seconds, and barely had time to tap the brake pedal before I found myself in contact with the BMW ahead of me. Wasn't terrible damage-wise, but dented their trunk lid, which will cost God knows how much for my insurance. That probably means that because I'm a young male, my insurance will now take an increase.

What I'm most depressed about is just the fact that I now need a new bumper and skid plate on my brand new truck. It just pisses me off that as careful as I've been since I got it not to do something stupid, it happens anyway.

Anyway, sorry...guess I just needed to vent a little bit. :(

(her car repair shop was basically ripping me off) and couldnt afford it, so I let my insurance company deal with it.. it sucks.. but noone is perfect man...

The bumper has pretty good scrapes on it and a small hole in it...looks like the brackets are bent too. The skid plate is bent pretty good.

As far as the Beamer, I was too pissed to really pay attention...it was newer though. Car, not SUV.

Thanks man...I guess I'm mostly just upset that it looks so damn irresponsible to wreck a truck I just got, even though it was just a minor accident. And there goes all the money I saved up to put into mods.

I too was set on keeping my record straight! But then I flipped my first truck offroading in the mountains. Not fun. It was still drivable so I ended up selling as it.

I'm going to be that guy.

    This are your mistake ratchere:

The maximum time your head is allowed to be turned away from your direction of travel while driving is 0 seconds.

I feel for you. You're going to get hit for the repair bills one way or another...either out of pocket, or through insurance premiums. Honestly, it might be cheaper to not even file an insurance claim and just take care of things "under the table".

I know it. And you have every right to be "that guy". It was stupid, and that's why I'm so mad about it.

That's why insurance costs more for those under 25. I did it too when I was in that age group. It happens, no biggie. That's why we have bumpers.

Well that sure is a shitty way to start off the school year.

At least it wasn't too bad. You or someone else could have been hurt after all. With that said, shit happens. Don't wear yourself out about it, just learn from your mistake.

I did the exact same thing in my jeep about a month after I got it. Lol I was working 7 days a week, 11 hour days and just like blinked to the speedo and looked up and bam big chevy stopped about 10 feet from me and I'm doing about 20. I'm just glad is was my $2300 jeep and not a new car. Lesson learned though, you'll drive safer for it.

Well, that's the correct response. Best of luck in getting it resolved at a low cost and minimum of hassle.
