Best a/t tire nowadays?

Answered my own question: loading. LT can take more PSI than P rated.

I always recommend the Silent Armors. The sizes are rather limited now that they're trying to get you to switch to the Adventures, but they have the size I want and I'll be putting those on when the stock shoes wear out.

I had excellent experiences with them on my fullsize Bronco and they really only fell flat on ice and in the kind of mud that gives even MTs pause.

 

Thanks. I just couldn't wait for the SCS wheels. On Thursday I had my front icons raised the last inch and it's setting tall and level. What pressure do you run in your Toyo's?

I need to play with that. Tire guy did what he wanted and now I'm out of town. Came to Seattle to escape TX heat and it's hot here too.

 

Another update: Had the Hankooks in three more times for re-balancing. Never could get them right without excessive amounts of weight (like one had nearly two pounds).

Scrapped them and went with Cooper Discoverer AT3's, also in LT275/70R17and they are awesome. Smooth as silk, but slightly noisier and are a six ply rather than ten. Also have the added benefit of a 55k mileage warranty. Much, much better!!!

I firmly believe that the ten ply Hankooks are too much tire for this truck. No need for all of that extra weight either.

not too many no here badmouth the Duratrac.

not too loud on road, good wet traction, good snow traction, good dirt traction, they look badass, great wear...

i haven't tried them on hardcore rocks or mud.

Has anyone heard of Muteki Trail Hog tires?

They look almost identical to Goodyear Duratrac's.

Could also be called Kanati Trail Hog

For you Canadian's out there, these are being sold at Kal Tire under the Muteki brand.

Looks like it might be their attempt to attack Fountain Tire/Canadian Tire's Duratrac offering...

 

Those have a passing resemblance to the new BFG KO2s that are in production and should be shipping to warehouses in the next couple months hopefully.

 

I just recently switched from a BFG TA KO to Hankook Dynapro ATM in 265/70/17. What a different, the BFG road rough and had more noise. The Hankook is much smoother, doesn't make as much noise and it get better gas mileage. I really like the Hankook so far, if they don't go to shit fast then I'm sold on a great AT tire that's not hard on gas mileage and ride comfort.

lol at calling them a sleeper. very underrated tire.

I've put mine through absolute hell, and have about 60,000 miles on them and I swear they still look new(ish).

Hankook Dyanpro ATM's.... hmmmm..... Can't take them seriously and most of you know why.

 

I ran my first set to 73.500 miles. Had them rotated every 5K miles, run 30 front and 28 rear. Stock 08 DC 4x4 tow. I am now about 15K miles into my second set, same results so far. I now the name sounds funny but when you look closely at the tire and hear these type of results, it's hard to not like them. These puppies are siped all the way down too, not just on the surface.

Goodyear Wrangler Authorities are the best bang for your buck. Cheap price, great tire. Some people dont like them because they're a walmart tire, but I personally love them.

 

I do have to say, I had the yokahama geolander AT tires on my last vehicle and I have to say they lasted a good 70k, great tire for the first half of their life but the last half of their life traction suffered severely and they became summer tires for me. I would definitely buy them again if I didn't live where we get snow. I need something that stays good.

 

I really liked this tire but they didnt have 265 in a load C so went Duratracs, great tire for the northeast ( Duratracs )
