New Tacoma Owner in need of answers, PLEASE!!!!!

Hi,

I just purchased my first '08 Tacoma 2 Weeks ago and just had New chrome wheels and 235/75/R15 tires. Since going from a 215/70/R15 I've noticed my speedometer is off. Can anyone tell me where or how to get this corrected. I'm assuming my odometer is off to.

Hey I bet the new set fills out the wheelwells way better huh? Look up 'auto speedometer/electrical' in the automotive sec of yellow pages...they have adaptors they can install on your speedo cable. If no luck, contact your local police dept. and ask them where they take their units

 

Find somone with a portable GPS unit and check your speed there. Both my ScanGauge and Garmin are dead on each other so the speedo reads 2 MPH higher. Mine is an 08 DC, 4x4, OR and TP. Came with 265/70/16's. They say if I go to a 265/"75"/16 that it will correct my speedo. So yours may be "correct" now!

Call the dealership, thay should be able to recalibrate the speedometer for a fee, or you could purchase something like this http://www.performanceproducts4trucks.com/productpage.aspx?cid=17&sid=79&pid=112249
or, a portable GPS unit would also work.

let us know if the dealer can fix it? that pro comp thing is 200 bucks!

if they can re-calibrate it that would be real sweet.

 

Took truck to dealership yesterday and the service manager took me for a ride in it. We drove by a radar board on the side of the road and said my trucks speed was dead on. He explained most Toyota's usually run two mile an hour faster factory and the manufacturer has a + or - 3 to be within specs. He said by put the little bit larger tires on it probably corrected my speedo perfect.​

You can also calibrate the scangauge to compensate for the tire size difference then really see how much you're needle is off by.

 

hey man i know exactly what your talking about. i have an indash GPS unit and when i see my speedometer and my GPS......someone is lying!!!! i usually go with my gps unit. once i hit around 65 there is a huge difference. when i am driving to the coast, my speedometer will say 80 and my gps will say 74 or 75, so i have a huge gap there. i just go with my gps and i havent been pulled over yet.
