My 2012 TRD OR 4x has cam, home link with comp/temp.
Toyota needed to save .25 cents per vehicle to give out some bonuses.

    Not enough...
'14 Baja came with "fancy" mirror. Homelink, auto-dimming (i think. has a power button on it. manual calls it "auto-antiglare), compass. No temp.

judging from the prices they go for, it's way more than 25 cents per vehicle.

Toyota really screwed up on the 2014 brochure, showing a truck WITH the obvious TEMPERATURE and COMPASS, but in the subtitle of the picture "2013 model shown".
Despite this, as the mirror/compass/temp was not even an OPTION, they should be scalded by '14 owners to get whatever they can in compensation....

Have you actually read thru this thread?.......people have been jumping up and down and spitting on the floor in dealerships all over the country since the '14's came out. Some got satisfaction, some did not. Nearly a year later it is what it is. Contact Bob and buy a mirror. Toyota should really be scalded for not upgrading the engine in 2014.....when they do that, I will trade up and transfer the mirror I got from Bob for my 2014 Sport to the new truck.

Toyo has seen the error of its ways, too late for '15 models. '16 will see a return of these features.

Of course I've read the thread; I'm in violent agreement.... but i checked the '14 brochure and nowhere do they SAY you'll have temp/compass. Only the Limited as even autodim and that's all.
I've simply pointed out that the brochure even pictures one with these features and is deceitful to subtitle it as a '13, when they likely NEVER intended to offer it on a '14. Sure they footnote that features will change, etc, etc. etc. and in effect bait/switch the consumer. (oh-shoulda read the footnote.) But this is a big deal for off-road vehicles. AT THE LEAST it could be an option. Just giving a little more ammo to those looking for compensation.

The brochures for the 2014 that came out in late 13 early 14 said that sr5 and up would have temp/compass. I think they have since changed the brochures

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
    2014 TRD Off-Road.

    No temp or compass.

Had one installed aftermarket. Gentex 20A1 for $197 off Amazon and $200+tax to install.

I pushed back on my dealer about the whole mirror thing (even though the updated brochure they gave me had the corrected info about the TRD package) saying Toyota's marketing material said the mirror was in the TRD package and when the truck came in without it, whether or not Toyota can make changes legally, the dealership's reputation needs to be based on how they handle these kinds of issues. That said, I had to take my case up the ladder to the Sales Manager. But he did the right thing and credited me more that the cost of the mirror on some other work I had scheduled (I had the protective film installed on the front of my new truck). I think it helped that I hadn't filled out my customer survey yet and the dealerships count on high marks from customers. And they will get my positive survey as everything else in the deal went my way and I'm a happy camper...

By the way, I had already replaced the crap mirror with Bob's latest update and it cost way less than what the dealership credited me.

Upwards of a $37k truck and a basic mirror. I wouldn't have driven off the lot without it.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I have a 2014 Sport with auto dimming, compass, no temp.... only because I had the dealer take mine out of the 2013 and put it in my 2014. There is no wiring for the temp though. If I had a sensor and ran the wires, I could have temp too. I'm relying on the Entune temp which hasn't let me down yet, we'll see as I travel though.

HotRod53: the input from your '13 OEM mirror is likely digital with temp feed from the ECU/AC Amplifier; an analog sensor wouldn't feed it the right signal

OCNutty/HotRod53 - correct about the 2013 mirror. It gets the digital temperature signal from the AC amplifier module. It's also on some later 2012's, and I think there is a writeup on the forum on how to find this wire on prior year models. The 2014's though...not sure if the same applies. Mito sells the same exact mirrors that were available in the 2012-2013's under the part number GENK3320S and GENK3350S. These mirrors come with wiring harnesses that have analog temperature sensors that route into an analog-to-digital converter, as these two mirrors now have the single wire digital temperature sensor input.
