Hey Folks! Im looking at a couple of different Tacoma Models.

    1. 2006 Crew Cab 115,000+ miles, Clear CarFax, Good Dealer, Good mechanic review. 15k MANUAL

    2. 2007 81,000 clear everything above. good mechanics review. 20k AUTOMATIC

Id prefer the manual, its a better price, and its a manual. But im worried about the lifespan that im going to get. I get mixed reviews on the lifespan on the 2nd gen, some people say 200k, others say as much as 375k.

Anyone have any imput? Im very excited to own a tacoma, but I havent had much direct experience with them.

Go with the older one. Like Scottalot said, fewer miles is nice but not THAT nice. Plus, I've always wanted a manual and you'll have more respect here on TW with one.

Is this a factual statement of the general population lol I can care less if someone drives an auto or manual.

To the OP, I'd get the older model. I have a 2005 and I just hit 103k with no issues. What are the spec on each vehicle? 4x4? Prerunner? Off road? Sport? Base model?

Generally people have a lot of respect for manual trans on TW, from what I've seen.

lol having driven a manual for 3 years (WRX STI and now a 2013 AC Taco) I have to say I could care less. It's a silly thing to have a manual in cars these days unless it's a performance car. Even then I find it only to be "fun", but not as fast as a good auto. I wouldn't want my WRX STI any other way, manual for sure... but the manual in these trucks feels horrible compared to a performance transmission and it's just a chore driving it. If you've ever tried to wheel in real rocky areas where it takes precision and a lot of control you'll quickly regret a manual.

In fact it's that reason right there (and the fact that it's an Access Cab) that has me debating trading it for a brand new DC, auto just so it's a more convenient and realistic DD
