Indeed! I see it as if I got caught and brought police knocking atthe door. I would be cconsidered a bad child. If i never got caught and mommy and daddy don't know. I'm innocent

    Same.

There is a reason why Texas routinely ranks at the bottom in public education.

Yet somehow dictates what other states implement as their curriculum.

There is a reason why people think Texans are dumb. The public school systems here prove it.

I've seen the curriculum for someone who goes to private school (so far grades 1-4). A private school that is located in a pretty decent public school system of CCISD, but is ranked higher overall. Their ciriculum seems to be geared towards passing the state mandated exam, which isn't that hard IMO.

Skewed like fuuuuuu. Although I will admit that it is a large part of the problem, but it isn't the largest factor by any means. They are now hiring bilingual teachers. PISD is looking for not onlu spanish speaking, but Viet as well.

A lot of hispanics mark themselves as "white" during the census count, so a lot of numbers are skewed.

If immigrants were the real problem then why are the top spelling, math, science, and whatever else champions for grades 1-12 immigrants or children of immigrants? One can argue that the percentages are greater on one side than the other. There are always two sides to the story, in this case it is easy to push agendas based on something most people are very passionate about.

That goes for all the schools in the state, most other countries have passed us up a long time ago.
I remember when I was in the 9th grade. My cousins from France came to visit. They asked what home work I was working on. Then looked and laughed! Said they did that in Thier 5th grade lol

I'm assuming you're referring to the school books. Texas has an extremely powerful stronghold on school book sale and thus content because of the sheer size, power, and population of the state. Many other states jump on the bandwagon because it's fiscally better for them to buy the same books that are being used in Texas (think: volume discount). But when Louisiana of all states decides to break with Texas because the quality of the textbooks are so poor, something is wrong.

Many people will try to convince you that strong economy = strong state educational system.

    False.

In fact, a low cost of living is an effect of a poorly educated workforce.

Sure, but CCISD is one of the best in the state and routinely ranks highly in the country. CCISD is also one of the most competitive school districts for the military academies. It's an anomaly within Texas.

    Lol. Exactly.

Its a little 7 year old girl, her private school seems to gear their curriculum towards the exams. My godson and his sister who attend school in Kingwood ISD seem to have a greater overall curriculum, although still not ideal IMO.

Dude I agree. It isn't just a Texan thing, it is a North American thing, although Texas is on the bottom of a long list. I was 7 when I went to Canada, which has a better school system than here. I had to be tested, especially since I came from a lesser "third world" country called Trinidad, at least that is what they thought. I tested three grade levels above my age. Because of all the PC nonsense I was placed only one grade level ahead as the school officials said it would be tough for me to fit in graduating high school at 14-15 years old.

I skated through the next four years doing the bare minimum. I got used to being lazy and then my grades started going down lol.
