Yes it's a wear item and should be replaced yadda yadda yadda but let's compare how these ball joints work:

If that ball separates, there's a very good possibility that you're coming to a grinding halt. Actually I haven't heard of anyone losing one and the wheel not coming off and wrecking shit. I never knew what the 6 lug design looked like and was curious how they failed catastrophically.

I couldn't find similar angled shots of both but I wan't willing to spend more than like 5 minutes on this haha. This design is the same as my 5 lug. If that ball fails, there's a lot more of a chance that the LCA will be caught by the little arm piece that holds the ball in. This is what happened to mine, everything was just resting there.

So I like the 2nd gen design. It gives a little bit of a safety net should the ball fail.

 

If you can find it, I highly recommend the Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout. The local craft beer shop had some in the other day and I bought some.
It's been a challenge not to drink it all at once, haha!

That's what I tried to match my Oatmeal Stout up to when I brewed it last fall. Close, but not quite. Came out tasting kind of like a cross between Sammy Smith and Guinness Draught.
Not a bad flavor, mind you, but not exactly what I was going for.

 

I've found that to be the case at a lot of college towns. Too many frat boys drinking bud light, I guess.
Although I am seeing more bars bucking the trend and carrying a decent variety instead of just the basic "pisswater and a token Guinness" on tap.
