I'm going to attempt to bring mine, but she is a teacher so since school is starting back up that week, she may opt to stay home and work on classroom stuff.

On another note, are dogs allowed out there?

Yes the intake tube came off. I bought the truck about a month prior and I probably forgot to tighten it after taking it apart to check out the condition of the filter and clean the MAF. Sometimes after working a couple 12s the recovery day is a blurr.

The truck is just a great truck. Factory package or not it feels more special than other "stock" tacos I've been in (more than likely the suspension makes the difference). I also like rare vehicles and although it is a taco, it is a taco with a package that you don't see too often.

Dennis is right I am a tacoma fanboy. I am also a Nissan fan. I liked both the taco and fronty, but it came down to some very little things in the end. Tacos have great aftermarket, but rusting frames (I checked one out and could poke a darn screwdriver straight through the frame where the body mount is, eek); the fronty has a limited aftermarket, a cooling system defect that allows the tranny fluid to mix with the collant resulting in a toasted transmission (easily rememdied though), and a cheaper interior. The front susension on the fronty can be easily swapped with a Titans, giving about a 4" lift without degrading the CV angles severly (so that takes care of suspension up front) and a really strong frame (shares it with the Titan).
Then I saw the pricing for both vehicles used. Based on my budget I didn't want a 2nd gen with 120K plus miles, nor was I interested in a first gen. I started looking at KC Nismo 4WD frontys. Then came across my truck that had 89K miles CC 4WD Nismo, but it needed some work. Negotiated a great deal from Victoria Nissan (asking 18888, but after negotiation ended up at 16700 OTD). And here we are. I have really beat on my truck thus far; it's been a couple months of ownership and she is totally pinstripped from running some trails. I fixed some of the body damage she had, although PDR is in the future at some point for the cab. All in all I'm happy, but still peruse autotrader for tacos and frontys, never know when a better deal can be found lol.

Anytime I'm off and you are wanting to come down to explore for a bit, come on down and we can meet up.

I might be getting there pretty late, maybe even around 3pm :/

I might be. Not sure yet. If she's going to clingy and annoying she isn't coming lol.

I see what you mean about it being unique, that makes sense. Not that you need to justify it, I just was wondering. My Tacoma was 19000 or 19500 I think? for 2007 (This was in 2011) with 58K miles, SR5 PreRunner. No telling what it is worth now, I wish someone could tell me. Currently at 100K, some repairs have been made but nothing noticeable, and interior is exceptional.

I have been wondering... If I ever get the time (as if that is going to happen) I would like to do a thorough report of MSRPs and package options of each edition of the Tacoma offered, then put it all together and give a visual of exactly what you're paying for with each package, and how much it would cost you to just buy a base and build it up for each individual package. If I did that I might end up buying the latest model SR5 and building it into a TRD OR or baja!

I just think it is a bit unsettling that if you buy a 4WD SR5 it will never sell for as much as a TRD OR, even if you upgrade all of the parts, just because it wasn't manufactured as one.

As for your invite, I would love to go to Galveston some time next semester.

Based on the exlempary residual values, possibly 18.5K for dealer retail, 11-14K on wholesale. It's just a guess...

I'm thinking this is more my style...

Really I can't buy anything else. Bursting at the seams with all these toys right now. Plus I am looking into purchasing another house closer to downtown and that takes priorty over all...well school takes priority over all, but the house is because of school lol.

Sorry, I meant exemplary residual values....

I also forgot you are a prerunner. So possibly 15-16K retail and 10-12K wholesale. It is just a guess though.

No, I understood that you meant exemplary. A typo won't stop me  but I have never heard of wholesale price. I mean... If Toyota sells a fleet of something I would assume that's the meaning of wholesale? What would I have to do with that?

and 16 is fair I guess. I wouldn't like to take that low though...

Wholesale is what the dealer pays for a car. Although the term is predominantly used for new cars, trade-in is the same as wholesale as it is what they paid for it. I use the term interchangeably, although I guess it is not technically correct.

Really? Their cost is that low? And I always heard that called invoice. (However, invoice is not true invoice, so you are probably correct in your usage of wholesale)

That is incredibly low. Is there a way to learn what a dealer's true invoice (wholesale) is? That would be a useful tool in negotiating.

There might be some salepeople on here that know the tricks to figuring stuff out.

Let's say you want to trade your truck in, they will offer you their trade value that is based on many factors but heavily weighted on the wholesale auction value for your vehicle at that time. They then clean it up, perform basic maintenance (in some cases, not all), and then mark it up.
An easy way to get an idea of your trucks value (other than looking online) is to take it to Carmax or any local dealer and see what they will give you for it on trade. Private party sale is obviously more, but when it comes to vehicles in the mid teens that are over 6 years old it becomes tricky as most people don't have cash on hand and a lot of banks will not loan on vehicles that are older than 6 years old or over 100K miles.
