almost took a job at the space center after I graduated. definitely some cool stuff going on there, getting ready for the heavy lift rocket.

Vero is south of Melbourne about 40 minutes. awesome little beach/fishing town.

A friend of mine used to work for a NASA contractor, didn't know exactly what he did, all he told me was that he works in a clean room all day. Apparently he quit working for the contractor because his team kept getting sold off to other companies when the current one ran out of money.... turns out he now works for NASA itself and he only had to move his office across the hall

Space/science centers are always pretty cool. Haha I had an internship in college with a company in San Diego that was contracted by SpaceX at the time. It was definitely cool, but theoretical physics and matlab are definitely not my thing. So I think I'll stick to making sure buildings don't collapse. Haha

While you're in MD you should swing by the Goddard Space Center. It's a pretty cool place.

haha, matlab and theoretical physics are pretty different animals from one another :p

I love physics, but my brother is a physics major of the family, so i stick to engineering and leave most of the theoretical stuff to him.

Goddard is a cool place. I grew up in Virginia, so i've gotten to see most of the attractions in the area. Udvar Hazey center still drops my jaw every time i go though.

Hahaha yea I worded that weird. The company was an acoustical sciences company that developed a program for vibration and energy control. I was in the R&D division so I was working with the guys that were developing the formulas and doing beta testing. Basically you could upload a CAD model of anything, hit it with a bunch of frequencies from different directions and the program would output the locations of the nodes, high pressure zones, tell you what the resonant frequency was for each panel, and tell you at what load/decibel everything would fail. Haha one of the side projects I had was figuring out why the solar panels snapped off of a company's satellite when it broke through the atmosphere.

But yes, I'm a structural engineer by degree. I'd much rather play with things I can actually see and touch. Haha udvar hazy is also pretty awesome. That SR-71...

Sounds like it was a cool job. that was one of my favorite things about using Pro-E to model things. you could simulate your model as being built from all kinds of different materials, and in real time, see howit would react to various forces. always found it odd that you could model something as being made of water though

    dat sr-71 indeed
