Just a suggestion, go to a local shooting range, and hold the XD and XDm to compare grips. A lot of people find the grip of the XD to be more comfortable to the grip of the XDm.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will definately do that. I have shot many variations of the XD, but my local range doesn't carry any XDm to rent.

I did like the feel of the XD over the glock, though. I know this is just personal preference.

I will be able to test fit at my local gun store though.

Are you set on getting a Springfield? If not, I also love my Walther PPQ, also available in 9 or .40, with barrels in about 4" and 5".

I don't think the xdm is Cali approved. No magazine disconnect.

I don't think either the XD or XDm have mag discos. Not sure why there are no XDm's on the list Blackhawke posted.

I'm not set on the SA, and would like to paw an M&P to see if the ergos are good for me. I know I don't want a glock.

The xd came in first before the whole mag disco rules. Then the xdm became available after the mag disco requirements for the doj

I just got back from a friends house where we ate dinner and shot some, I got the chance to shoot a sig 226 for the first time and I am in love.
Sig 226 will be my first handgun instead of the M&P, I just gotta find one used, local, and private party for the right price.

    9mm or .40? A friend of mine has the 226 in .40.

    Sounds expensive.

    I'll check into those.

The one i shot was 9mm, but I'll most likely get a .40 and a caliber x-change kit to shoot 9mm.

Friend of mine just picked up a 226 as well. They really do shoot nice!

On a side note I got a XD45 on trade a few days ago and the damn striker retaining pin was broken.. Fucking A..

Also, took the wife out shooting the other day and had the sudden realization that my ammo storage was getting low.. Why must it be so expensive.. I miss the old days

Y'all may know this, and to some it may not matter, but you can fit one extra 9mm round in a .40 magazine for a Glock.

As an ignorant person, please tell me more about this. I find this firearm to be very intriguing, and possibly something I may need to acquire my own version of.
