That came out sweet, I like.

Does anyone have any experience with 285's on a wheel with 4 inch backspace. I don't mind cutting but I know 4.5 backspace is the most preferred and I'm just curious what I'll be getting into.

Why touch it up, it'll never get a chance to rust

You haz body lift and still rub...and your definition of easy would be very difficult to others.

Just throwing that out there so the poor guy doesn't think it's actually easy. You know your shit more than the average guy and have already done it.

Would be like me saying snorkel install is easy when I have helped do 8 of them and if a n00b tried they would be frozen in fear when cutting the fender. :D

rubbing non-stop when offroad. Ive never wheeled with anyone that had them and didn't rub. Scott's used to sound like a train coming down the trail :D

    Must be sarcastic. :D

I know he has a body lift I took that into consideration but thanks. I'm not too worried about smashing pinch welds and doing a cab mount chop even a little fender trimming isn't too bad. Just curious is all I'm getting a pretty good deal on a set of Mickey Thompson classic III's an I have a set of 285 tires off a truck I sold so I just wanna make sure the 4 inch back space is a issue. I wouldn't think a half inch would make a huge difference but without tryin I don't know for sure. And that's what she said :p

you can always get wheel spacers if you need them. I had 1 1/4" spidertrax for the last 70k miles, now ill be using 3/4" bora spacers in the front since my 35's hit the uca and frame to the point that i can't park in a crowded parking lot. with the 1 1/4" spacers i rub the firewall and cab mount a lot, so i'm going to use 3/4" and beat the firewall into submission.

In his situation you're moving the wheel the wrong way. Moving the wheel outward increases the scrub radius I believe it's called and therefore causes more rubbing. 4.5" on an 8" wide wheel seems ideal on these trucks to avoid "most" rubbing.

Hunter/Craig - that top portion of frame Ant is rubbing is where I rubbed stock and continue to rub now. Ant's actually looks to rub much less....mines been raw steel for years.

That's the problem I have now. I have wheels that don't clear the calipers so I got the spidertrax spacers and even my 265's rub like hell even just backing into the driveway. With the spacers I'm at a 2.75 back space. The new wheels I'm getting will eliminate the spacers so hopefully I'll gain a little more room for the 285's. Atleast that's the plan haha I can live with rubbing on trails just not during every day driving.

Boyd I do not have any evidence of rubbing there but a little farther back... Maybe 3-4 inches I have rust on some of the welds for that piece

meh... no need for hockey pucks unless going huge tires. I met a guy two weeks ago selling the body lifts for $50. He makes them himself out of extruded poly.

Took me more than 2 days just to clean and prep my frame, 4 days for first coat of rust reformer to cure, 2 weeks for rubber under coat to cure, couple days for top coat to cure.
