Damn, I hope it's not too bad. Regardless we have enough beer and food to make up for low water levels. :D

Read the sidewall of the tire and start there. Under inflation will cause wear problems as well as increase the risk of tire failure. Let's not forget the impact on gas mileage. Under inflation is something like 30% lower than the sidewall pressure.

Which is not to say you shouldn't run them at 34psi, just be aware of the pitfalls of doing it.

Sidewall of tire says to consult doorjamb/placard in vehicle for tire pressure. According to owners manual 265/75-16 is supposed to be run at 33-35 psi. The tire sidewall also says max psi is 80...

I thought door sticker only applied to OEM equipped tires for some reason, not just size. When I swapped to BFGs on the last truck I went off sidewall PSI.

Door jam is probably the best since its from the manufacturer. Sidewall info can be useful though. And some people don't follow that. I've seen prius tires (185/65/15) come in with more than 70 psi. I don't know how in the hell the tires didn't explode on the freeway..... trying to the the BEST possible gas mileage.

And a nice bald patch in the middle tread? All for saving gas but not at the cost of prematurely wearing your tires with a huge overfill. BFG was at least 285/16s or 295s. I run around 32-34 on my stock 245 lops

Door sticker on my truck does only apply to the stock tires. I was just replying to the post that said to read the sidewall of the tire.
The owners manual has psi specs based on tire size. They spec 33 psi in 265/70s so I figure around there would be good for my 265/75s
I was running the recommended 30 psi in the stock 245/75s that just came off my truck.

About 53k miles. And 30 psi after the first 15k miles. I got the truck with 15k on it and can't verify that the tires were at 30 psi before I got it. I swapped them out for a more aggressive tire due to my going to be in the desert for the next few months for work.

How can Toyota tell what the correct tire pressure for a tire that may not be what was installed on the truck to begin with? The door jamb sticker is for what was installed when it left the factory. What is printed on the side of the tire is the tire's maximum pressure, not the pressure that you should run it at.

My Goodyear tires say something like 65PSI on the side. If I use the 30% rule I mentioned earlier, I shouldn't go lower than about 45PSI to keep the tire operating within it's design parameters. If I read the door sticker and it said 32PSI, that's 50% less than the tire's rated capacity. Which is fine for wheeling but not so good for driving on the road-if you follow the guideline most tire mfg recommend.

BTW, over inflating a tire has consequences too.

34 lbs with 30 recommended technically is overinflated, but is it really? Wear so far is good no unusual wear pattern. Personally I don't like how they feel with 30.

I didn't necessarily want E tires on my truck. My company has an account with Les Schwab and that's the offroad tire they sell.
If I use the 30% rule, my tires would be at 56 psi. The truck was riding VERY rough at 65 psi and was "skating" on the freeway at speed. I have the fronts at 36 psi and the rears at 37 psi. And I'm not saying that I'm using the door sticker. Someone said consult the sidewall. I did. It said consult the door sticker...

Im Pretty syre 4 pounds won't make a huge difference. Just keep an eye out for them. Rotate every 5k miles and you'll be good to go.

    There's no witchcraft.

The door sticker tells you tire size and cold inflation pressures. It also gives some loading information for the vehicle. In an ideal world, those are the best conditions for those tires to run.

If you're running your tires at 34PSI instead of the recommended 30, no harm in that.
