    Hello everyone,
I bought a 2013 taco double cab and would like to lift it. I was thinking 3inch in the front and whatever it takes to level it out. I need to know what kit I should buy because I have no clue which one to choose. I don't want to use spacers cause I have read some bad things about them. Whatever I end up getting would I need to "add a leaf" to help level it after the front goes up 3inch? What size of wheels are you guys getting on a 3inch lift? What tools would I need apart from basic tools? And if someone could explain a drop diff as we'll please.

    Thanks a lot for reading,
    Talk to you soon
    Elliot

don't do a drop bracket lift, unless you're just going for looks. (heard it from the mouth of parts distributer) Old Man Emu is very good imho, I actually wish I had gone that route due to price. King and Icon make great shocks. I really comes down to what you want to do with your truck. If your going to be carrying a heavy load, merely adding a leaf is not quite going to cut it. You will here 1000000 different opinions. That is mine. OLD MAN EMU, no one offloads like the aussies! don't believe me, watch the show 4wdtv on youtube.

welcome to TW. first off start by searching for the topics you want to learn about. go to the tab marked "mods and tutorials" click on "2nd gen how 2's" and read about lifts

These trucks have been out for over a decade and pretty much everything has been covered already so there is a wealth of info to be found without needing to ask anyone what their opinion is.

I myself think 3" lifts are tarded because they drive like crap offroad and typically require new UCA's.

I'll only be doing a little bit of off-roading just to get to sweet camp and fishing spots. I went on the ome site and they recommended a kit that lifts it 50mm front and 55m back. Can I just select one that will level the truck while lifting it. I'm a tile setter by trade so I usually carry tools and sometimes tile. So I would like the rear of the truck to not sag as much as it does when there is some weight in the back.

    Thanks

UCA is the "upper control arm" a ~3 inch lift is the most common lift. it all depends on your setup and vehicle weight. and contrary to XXXX they do not require an upper control arm swap. the upper control arm is only necessary if you have a significantly lower "droop" the downward motion of the wheels. OME (old man emu) does not require aftermarket UCA. You like all the acronyms? feels like your in the military huh? the problem with lift spacers is that your shock will bottom out, or hit the inside of the shock tube before your bumpstops actually make contact, and in turn destroy your shocks.

check these out... this is a great dealer, fast shipping and very knowledgable. You should definitely do some reading and educate yourself using these forums, some people don't like when people ask questions that have already been answered.

as far as driving like crap off road... clearly doesn't spend much time getting dirty.

spacers will give you "lift" a full swap of suspension parts will change your ride/ off road life drastically.

So I've done some serious reading, I'm interested in the ome lift. From what understand, if I was to go with the 5100 coil over kit and put it up to the full 3inches, I only get 1" of travel? The ome kit looks like it lifts 2.5 inches with lots of travel? If I was to add a leaf how much would this raise the back? The goal is to lift and level the truck using quality parts and doing it the right way. Would it be wise to get new uca's? I've read that on some 3" they were neccisary. Thanks again

How rough and long are the roads to you camp/fishing spots? If you wanna get there faster/smoother go with Icon or King.
