What is VAR ?

On my weather temp gague I found out if you hold it VAR comes out whatis it for?

 

Its the Vehicle Anomaly Report by pressing it tells the dealer you have been playing with things you shouldn't and now a full diagnostic check must be performed for a Variance Analysis Report that will lower the trade in value known as the Value At Risk program.

 

Pretty sure VAR is the difference between true north and magnetic north

 

It could be the variation of the temp sensor of what it is reading and what it shows to correct for heat from the engine on the sensor.

VAR is the deviation of magnetic north and true north and is relative to your position on the planet. RTFM it will tell you the number, I'm sitting on the shitter and don't want to go outside to find it for you

 

Topo maps and nautical charts have a compass rose that shows the local magnetic variation.
