Is there any way to completely turn off trac control in 2wd. I can't stand when I'm in dirt and spinning and the trac control goes nuts even when it's clicked off. Is there a way to disengage it completely? Thanks.

stop. Press and hold the traction control button until the lights light up on the dash. (takes about 5 -10 secs of holding the button)

Or if you want an on the fly any time traction control off / abs off switch, there is a mod to fool the truck into thinking the rear diff is locked and walla no traction control no abs no nothing.

    Kinda

at a stop , press and hold the VSC button , the AUTO LSD and VSC OFF lights will come on , keep holding till the AUTO LSD light goes out leaving only the VSC OFF light illuminated

The system will reset if you push the button again or turn the truck off

I'm not sure if it can be completely disengaged in the 12 or 13+ tacomas. When I "completely" turn mine off it still doesn't allow me to go nuts with it. It still wants to correct the truck when it fish tails. My 2011 didn't do that when I would turn off all the traction controls.

you are not doing it right.... my 13 TRD off road 4x4.... you press and hold it till both lights are lit up.... its off... you can drift, do doughnuts and burnouts till your hearts content.

But like stated, i have the full traction control kill switch including abs off for when i wanna get crazy.... and its on the fly.

Not sure about the 2 wheel version but on mine....4x4.....you can unplug the sensor that is attached to the knuckle. The ABS light will come on the dash & traction control is completely dead.

A quick press and release will turn the "Auto LSD and VSC" lights on a press and hold for 5-10secs goes to "Trac off and VSC" lights on.... when the latter are lit up... the traction aid nannies are off (outside of ABS)

With the ABS / Traction control kill switch i have.... the ABS, Rear locker, Trac off and VSC lights lite up... turning off ALL traction aids, which is useful offroad.

Yeah there is all sorts of confusion on the subject as different years have different lights of different sets of lights that turn on at different times.

I have a 2014 and if I push and hold the button as described for about 10sec I can go nuts and the truck doesn't try and help or do anything. Tested it out the past day and a half as it has been raining in SoCal. I was drifting and all with no truck computer input.

You can only kill ABS with an ABS bypass mod or yanking the fuse

Interesting thread as I am confused about the VSC in my base 2.7 2WD. I have noticed in slippery road conditions the rear tires often spin when starting from a stop. I never see the VSC light flash and I have to let off the gas to regain traction. In my BMW as soon as the rear wheels spin the TC lights up and I regain control. Pressing the VSC off button is confusing as it says "LSD off" and lights up the VSC. The manual seems to imply pressing the off button activates the VSC, but this is counter intuitive to me. Shouldn't VSC by default be "on"?

    Yeah.

Yes, I'm doing it right. When it's off (button being held for 5-6 seconds while sitting still and all lights come on) it will correct a fishtail when driving down the road.

What I was thinking is after a certain wheel speed it's going back to a default mode. Kind of like if you only push the button once and quick into auto LSD mode. After something like 30 mph it changes back.

ABS is for when you mash the break petal and go into a skid, say because you are breaking hard and turning. It prevents the breaks from locking up and perpetuating said skid. It 'chirps' the tires and slows them down without locking them. Also the computer does the slowing in a way to each wheel that will try and steer the vehicle in the path it thinks you want. ABS is not really an issue if you are doing donuts and such. :)

Traction Control (TRAC) -- helps reduce drive wheel spin during acceleration using ABS and control of engine power output.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)2 -- helps prevent skidding or spinning while cornering by controlling ABS and engine power output to help keep the vehicle traveling in the steered direction, even if the driver enters a turn too fast or steers the vehicle too sharply for road conditions.

EDIT: ABS does effect mashing the skinny petal in donuts and drifting unless you press and hold the button and turn that off. I assume that while turned off if I was to mash the break, ABS as I described would still work.

Hmm maybe i have never been that squirly at enough speed to have it shut me down. Either way if i want traction aids off i simply flip my kill switch and turn it all off.
