I used self etching rustoleum on another set with good results. Light coats are they key. Don't rush it.

Grillcraft Grill, Leer 100q top, 5100's on four corners, OME 885x up front, OME Dakars with add a leaf in rear, Lighting, a mix of Rigid and Chinese LED's, US Off Road hidden winch front bumper, SOS offroad conceprs skids, and rear bumper with swing out
When I get mine in I am thinking I am going to linex the rails and sides or paint them with POR15 and a matte or flat top coat.

I had good luck doing it that way with primer except for I mounted it before the paint cured so the washers rubbed off the paint... the main problem is that I need stainless hardware, not the black oxide junk

I am very worried about that but I am hoping to insert some foam into the slots so that I might only have a small amount of clean up in the slots. I am also checking with a couple of bicycle builders to see what it would cost to get anodized

I have heard aluminum oxidizes over time but don't know how detremental that is. You could always sand and then hit a clear coat on it.

Possible to swap the metal wind deflector for lexan or plexiglass so I could install a light bar behind it

Yes. There may be a bit of a price difference though. It is expensive to have just one laser cut, if you are willing to pay that difference, or if I can find a way to cut it well enough at home, or if you want to cut it, then it is definitely a possibility.

its more of a film on aluminum, mostly just the top layer, unless intergranular corrosion

Shouldn't be too difficult to come up with something. Only problem is I don't have my old OEM rack to prototype with anymore. I'll have to check with some locals.

Zach, the Cabrack arrived. Still on the box. Any tips on removing the rubber strip on the roof?

The strips will just pop right off. Just pull. Like many other parts on these trucks, there are just clips to hold them on. Then you can eithyer peel the stickers off covering up the mounting holes or trim around the hole with an xacto knife. Angle it into the hole so you don't cut through the paint on the truck.

I am going to have say about a month. I keep giving people deadlines based on the deadlines that shops give me but they are consistently missing their deadlines and causing me to do the same. I currently am working towards stocking racks instead of made to order approach. Cabrac's should be in stock in the next week or so. Capracs probably not till the end of the month.
