Shows how much you know. The previous owner on mine bought a hood scoop AND TRD stickers to fool anyone from the outside. The sale sticker says "BASE" though ;).

I totally forgot about that one. That is very high on the list. Don't think I've noticed any Tacomas, but there are several "urban" Chevy, Dodge and others parked where I work. Almost makes me hurl, what did they buy a truck for?

A lot of people have said they hate window vent shades, and I'm not normally the biggest fan of them.. But do they actually help? I love having my windows down but not always the huge gust in the face. When they're black on black they don't look as bad, but do they help?

Yeah I could see that.. I don't smoke though. But still wouldn't mind the windows down and protected from rain and whatnot. It's hot and humid in Arkansas.

Well yes, it is the single cab, 2WD, and whatever their smallest/most efficient engine is. I didn't say that they all got 28 MPG. Why would a company advertise anything OTHER than their most fuel efficient package? Toyota does the same thing. My point is the Dodge's most efficient truck is getting EPA 28, while the most efficient Tacoma (Same, 2WD, single cab) is not.

My point is, just because the EPA estimate is a certain model, or just because most people won't get that estimated efficiency, doesn't mean it is garbage, because all motor companies use the same tricks. It's equal across the board.

Secondly, I did not say that Toyota HAD to, nor did I say it was incapable. It simply hasn't yet because the Tacoma still sells. Like you said, the R&D money is not necessary to spend, and also, a redesign right now would diminish the sales of the TRD pro, baja, and the new bumper style. It's just not a good market move right now.

All I was saying is I wish they would redesign it, because I KNOW they are capable of putting out the best midsize truck.

What if you have all the necessary equipment? For example, if you bought a BASE SR5 2WD, put a LSD or locker in the rear, added the interior components, colormatched everything, and got the hood scoop, you would have yourself a TRD Sport Tacoma, without spending as much money. Also, the dealer wouldn't give you as much money as a sport because of the VIN.

When I buy a new Tacoma I might do all that good stuff. I can't justify buying the most expensive package when it's just a lot of DIY parts.

You clearly bought the wrong vehicle. I would blame my own suckiness at my choices than said manufacturer. The Tacoma has history. it is well done for what it is. They put it out there. you no likey you no buy.

As far as the GM twins. they come from a company that sucks. everything the produce sucks, sans Holden group.

go buy a Colorado, but please don't come here and complain on your choices.

Not ignoring you but I am at work and for the time it would take to make a respectable response, I don't want to use more company time. I'll quote&reply tonight.

I love my truck, Oldtimer. I just know these trucks could be better, there's nothing wrong with that. I was just a discussion, I don't see why you are getting defensive. I think it's ok to have a discussion, this is a forum after all. :D

it's all good sonny boy. I'm not defensive at all. Toyota offered a truck at a price and after consideration, i bought it. I'm not going to buy something then go on a forum later and lament upon the shortcomings of my purchase. Sure, Tacoma could have more options at said price point, i won't argue. Personally, I like some of it's "basicness". i'm old. I remember when A/C and power windows were extreme options.

I bought what Toyota offered at a price that I felt was fair. You can't buy a better half ton anywhere, regardless of creature comforts.

At the end of the day, it's your dick and i can't tell you how to polish it.

I don't think TXTaco13 is really lamenting or bashing the Tacoma, I am sure he loves it, like we all do. But when you love something, you recognize the potential for continual improvement. To say that the Tacoma should have some upgrades isn't to say it's not the best truck. Imagine the complaints you'd hear if we all drove Nissans for a few months!

I still need to dissect TXTaco13 and I's discussion, but I have a feeling we have similar views on this topic. I sense some miscommunication.

Kinda like picking women. Sure big girls swallow but at what price?

Skinny hot girls that swallow are a) rare and b) expensive.

google my theory on girls. same applies to vehicles.
