I picked ULowell. My family is against it because they feel with my track record it's a waste.

    That's what I'm saying.

I think living away from my dad and his health issues will be a huge benefit for me

Plus all they talk about is debt. Doesn't practically every college grad have debt?

I'll revaluate which degree I want and get it, then take diving school and use my ulowell degree as a fallback

I'll be paying off my college debt for the next 8 or 9 years and I have absolutely no regrets. I wouldn't be in the position I'm in if it weren't for college.

Yeah, pretty much. Unless you are independently $$ or someone is paying it for you.
You said that you want to own a business. Can you do that at UL and then make something of it with the diving exp. you have?
Glad to hear that you will stick with it.
If you need to get away, maybe transferring to another state school?
Just ideas. Tell me to shut the hell up if you want.

Alex I am someone that doesnt think a degree or college time and money is for everyone. You need to make a decision as to what you want. Where you want to be in 10, 20, 50 years. I have friends that went to college and wasted 4 years on a degree and could not get a job in there major. Subsequently I have friends that went the other way and landed a good job right out of HS and are doing extremely well. I have an Associates Degree in Science and have never used it, but IT'S MINE. All in all college isnt for everyone and it is your decision

I came out of UMass Amherst with around $65K in debt. Got my degree in Civil Engineering and I wouldnt trade it for anything. If you get a major which is in demand then you are not going to regret going, period.

Loan payments are just a part of life.

All very good advice from both sides

Who knows? Maybe I'll apply my business degree towards owning my own under water salvage company or something? That would be cool!

And as for the Dr.'s idea of moving to a different state; that's even more money that I can't afford

    Billy nailed it.

Linda has a Masters in child psychology. Problem is, she couldn't get a job in the school systems which was why she got the degree. For her to make any real $$ otherwise she'd have to go back and get a PhD, which she's well done with school in all aspects of it.

I know you aren't planning it, but if living at home is an option that would save a lotta $$. I did it my entire college career

Getting my 06 inspected for frame rot this Saturday. It has a lot of surface rust, but it lived the first 2/3 of its life as a Florida truck so I am expecting it to pass. Anyone know how long the preventative treatment application should take? The recall thread seems to vary widely from "they told me to get the F out" to a week's time.

Where in MA and what dealership, Balise here in West Springfield told me a 1 day for the "spray" and if a new frame is needed possibly a week for change out but this is once the frame arrives to the dealer after the order is put through. Although considering that have 12 frames just sitting outside in crates behind their service bay, it wont take as long as they say

I hope it's the right decision, but no one can tell the future. I'll just have to see what happens!
