Getting ready to swing by and have my exhaust rerouted Monday so I can put my skids on when they come in, noticed a lot of guys chop it short and put a turn down just after the rear axle, whats the benefit of this mod?

Nice looking truck man.. I had my 09Z71 for a couple years and loved that thing... but 100k and the transmission began to slip so I let it go before I had to dump tons of money in it.. I really miss it sometimes cause it was like driving a caddilac..Oh and the purr of a V8

Something I've noticed in domestic trucks is the automatics can occasionally be problematic. My dad's 02 ram had 130k before trading up and you could tell the transmission was on its way to a rebuild, shifting out of reverse into drive was becoming problematic and it also made a bunch of moaning noise when doing it.

At 100,000 my trans still feels tight *knock on wood*
Hopefully this Aisin transmission is reliable enough to go at least 250k

To be fair it is a Dodge auto and their from what I've heard and from personal experience the countdown to failure starts at 120k. I had a 98 ram before my Taco and it's tranny blew up at 129k. My family has a 97 Chevy work truck with 215k and still on the original transmission.

Yeah I know that older dodges were plagued with transmission issues.

My dad's 97 7.3 Ford had the torque converter go out too, I don't know what mileage but it probably wasn't over 100k. Although he did regularly see how well that ole 7.3 could pull a load. He said he'd have it floored going up black mountain passing every car while hauling a ditch witch. I doubt the trans enjoyed that.

There is a guy that worked with my dad that I was talking to a while back. Has the same generation Chevy as above but Diesel. Said that he had about 500k on the transmission and about 450K on the engine and it was still running strong. Now, the body was beat up from years of being a work truck and a hunting truck, but the engine and transmission had a tremendous amount of miles on them.

Fucking diesels man.. They will go forever if you take good care of them

The benefit is not smashing the exhaust tip when offroad.

after you push the lense and base together get some silicone and run it along the edge where the 2 meet. smooth it out ensureing theres no gaps or holes. if it leaks again but your confident you have a good seal, check the boot on the backside. i re-opened and re-sealed mine 3 times for various reasons and i know they have good seals around the edges but still tend to get condensation somtimes.

Is your place full of smoke? I noticed you left the oven on with the cardboard in. I did that on accident and it started to smoke bad.

This is why I hesitate to crack mine open in the future. You going to make mod day on Sunday btw?

Did you guys just want to migrate back to my place afterwards and let me cook up some wings and get you a cold beverage or what?
