With all of my vehicles I switch over to synthetic at/near 1,000 miles. With my current Tacoma I switched over at 1,200 miles.

I changed the front and rear differentials and the transfer case to full synth at about 30K miles when the owners manual recommended an oil change. Couldn't tell one bit of difference in how the truck drove.

The engine gets regular old dino oil and I have no plans to go to synth. IMHO modern oils are more than good enough and when changed on a regular basis there is no need to pay the extra.

I changed my 2.7L to AmsOil at 68,000 miles, the first oil change after I bought it. I run AmsOil 12 months as recommended, since I don't drive over 25,000 miles in a year. I have been using AmsOil for 20+ years with excellent results.

I also changed the transmission, transfer case and differentials.

I've never had any problems with AmsOil, it's excellent.

My transfer case has purple oil in it, royal purple I assume. The transfer case shifted better immediately with Ams Oil.

I've found the best way to keep the transfer case shifting easily is to exercise it once a week whether you use 4wd or not.

Changed mine to synthetic at the dealer at 1,000 miles. Been running M1 5w-30 ever since.

I should really do a UOA on this one to see how the truck likes it.

I switched to Mobil-1 0W-20 at 45000 miles. Still using Toyota filters. I use Mobil-1 because it's usually on sale at Walmart (plus my daughter in law's discount).

Black Sand Pearl factory paint - flattened "au natural" by tree branches.
switched mine to synthetic at 160,000 miles. No worries.
