Backup camera

Few questions for you guys! To start i have an 08 AC M/T TRD off road

I have seen a few threads where people are ordering the 09 tailgate handle with the provision for a backup camera then running it to an aftermarket head unit. My question is what camera will mount in there properly without a lot of hacking? Has anyone ordered the oem camera with the handle and ran that to a different HU?

I dont really care if it turns on when i put it in reverse i would only need it some of the time. I just dont want to order a camera that fits like crap or order the oem unit and find out i can hook it up to a standard a/v imput.

I have a Kenwood CCD-2000 installed in my Pop & Lock 5300.

Had to take a dremel and make the opening a bit bigger, the spot wasn't big enough for the Kenwood camera and was blocking some of the lens. Other than that it fit pretty well.

Same experience here with the CCD-2000. I have an 08 and just bought the standard 09 handle. It was pretty straight forward.

One thing I added... I wanted to have the option of removing the tailgate, so I took a computer USB extension cable (male to female) and spliced that into the CCD-2000 cable about a 1 1/2 feet from where the cable leaves the tailgate. I just wrapped it in electrical tape to avoid any water from getting in and zip tied it up out of the way.
