So believe it or not I finished my truck last night and drove it home trans shifts like it did brand new. Runs great need the tune tweaked a little bit but the Chevy trans swap went perfect

    Gents / Ladies -

It looks like we'll be doing a pistol class the weekend of August 23rd. Right now I am looking at range availability and student availability. I have 3 folks who are signed up. This will be an 8 hour class and we'll shoot about 500 to 600 rounds. This is going to be above and beyond any basic "carry" class that you might take from another training company.

We'll do a mixture of classroom and shooting - right now (depending upon range and student schedules) we may split this into a two day class and do the classroom work on Day 1 and shooting on Day 2. The classroom work won't be boring - we will be practicing and covering a wide variety of things with the use of "blue guns".

If you're interested, the cost is going to be $190. If you have any questions, please let me know and if you sign-up - I'll need to know about the type of gun that you carry so that I can make sure we have the right "blue gun" for you.

Some of the areas we'll cover: (1) Virginia / MD / DC firearm laws, (2) concealed carry mindset, (3) every day carry gear selection, (4) holster and carry position selection, (5) drawing from concealment, (6) pre- and post-shooting, (7) live fire and drills.

If you're interested in something else or want to do some private or small group lessons, please let me know. We have access to everything from a classroom setting to a 1,000+ range.

Thanks guys - you can check out our website:

    or our Facebook page: Thanks.

Sounds awesome, unfortunately cant make it.

Recommendation: glock 19 or xds 9mm for a CC? was gonna get both but just got slapped with a 1500 dollar bill for the truck.

Have you ever shot a Glock before? I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can't stand how Glock's feel. Terrible ergonomics and just a weird feel. Could just be me though :)

Edit - XDS looks tiny from Google searches...maybe if you put a mag with the extra "finger grip?"

Yeah thats how I'm leaning. Yeah I;ve shot the 19, 17 and some of the 40s, a handful of glocks. I like them well enough, personal preference though. I have small hands.

Was gonna do the xds with the extended mag or a pearce grip, but yeah it is small. Im a small guy (5'10" 165#) and i like my clothes kind of fit

I hear you...I'm 5'7'', 175# :)...XDS seems like a good choice then. I used to be more of a fan of .40's, but after reading a bunch of stuff, there is really no evidence to show that .40's have significantly more stopping power than a 9mm.

Of course, a .45 is the tempting choice for pure stopping power, but it's tough when most .45's only carry 7+1 or 8+1...that is not ideal for self defense or home defense.

My buddy has a .45 that carries something like 13+1, but I can't remember for the life of me the name of it.

Yeah, thats kinda how I feel about the xd - it's 7+1 or 6+1 which is kind of lame, maybe 10+1 with the extended mag. Thats the draw back, but its a single stack and its small.

I went with the XD 9 not xds but I still think the XDS fit my hand better than the glock 19. the 19 didn't really fit my palm. I really like my XD but I'm a bigger guy and don't think I would have a problem concealing it with a good holster

As far as the class goes I won't be able to make it that weekend either. I start school that monday so I won't be in the area. I would definitely come up for the class any other time though, just need a week or two heads up.

good to know, thanks. I think that's what I'm going to go with for now. I have a 9mm rifle too so it'll be fun to swap ammo.

I'm in the same dilemma in .45. XDs or a Glock 30/36. I love my Glock 21 but it is too big for EDC.

My only fear with the XDs is that they have had a large number of recalls on them for the springs.

what about an SR-9c, or SR-40c? They dont have as high of capcity of glock carry's but the grip is a more slender and comfortable. I've only held one so I'm not sure how they shoot. but may be worth looking into as they are a little cheaper too....

    I'm getting a Sig 229 when I turn 21... :)

The Sig 226 series are the best pistols I've ever shot...and they can be chambered in 9mm, .40, or .357 with just a change of barrels. The 229 is just the compact of the 226.

I recommend the Glock 19 - in regards to grip size, the Glock 19 grip can be shaped and shaved down to fit just about any grip. I personally do a grip reduction on my Glocks and I end up hand-stippling the grips as well. My Zev Tier 3 Glock 19 fits my hand like a glove:

I'll try and post up future classes and if anyone is interested - I am always willing to take some out to the range solo and provide one-on-one instruction.

    Thanks.
