3" Lift with UCA, Grillecraft grille, XD rims w/ 285/70r17 duratracs, leer xq cap,
I have a 3" skyjacker lift, basically 3" up front and 1.5" AAL in the rear and I added camburg UCA's. It sits fairly level now (maybe a tad low in rear) with nothing in the bed and my fear is with the cap (leer xq) it will sag in the rear. I put the lift on beginning of the year and its fairly stiff so I am not sure a couple hundred pounds evenly distributed by the cap will do much but I want it level if possible. I am wondering if I should plan on going to a 2" AAL and what brand/where should I get it?

    Thanks for the help

What do you recommend for a rear leaf pack? I would assume its an easy install i could do myself in the garage?

^^^all sound advice. OME Dakars are favored around here. And yes, can definitely install in garage, but an extra set of hands helps.

Another vote for the dakars. They do well with the weight of my cap. I hear good things about the all pro springs as well though.

Any issues with break lines with the new pack?

Whats the advantages of the leaf pack vs AAL? Ride I would assume?

I just swapped my rear leaf packs by myself in my driveway. Not bad at all. I cut my u-bolts off because they were rusted. I used one pry bar and 2 floor jacks. The spring hanger bolts were in there good, but came out ok. Don't be intimidated, you can do it. I found that by freeing the axle from the springs (u bolts) It was easier to remove the spring hanger bolts. Just have the truck supported on the frame rails up at a decent height.

I just installed Allpro Expos a few weeks ago and with the truck cap and plate bumper I am sitting at about 4" high in back. Also the Dakars are great from what everyone says.

    i'd run extended brake lines.

Dakars will be a little stiffer, but you should be all right with a cap on. i don't think the extra between a 1.5" and 2" AAL will help. If you want to try the AAL route, you might consider Wheeler's HD 3-leaf.

Play it safe and get extended brake lines.

Is the rear quite a bit higher than front now? Did you extend break lines?

Yes right now it is, but my front 5100 lift is sagging a lot since i added a front plate bumper. In a few weeks i am installing 886 OME springs and shocks in the front to bring it back up. Yes I replaced my break lines with extended lines.

Sweet thanks guys i think I am going to get the topper installed and see how she looks and then go from there. Sounds like the leaf packs would be the way to go. Could I keep it level or will it end up sitting higher in the rear after now? LOL one problem to the next here.

It might sit with a little rake, but you can always pull a leaf out of the Dakars (don't recall which one though).

From what I have seen on here most of the guys that have shells and run with dakars are sitting level.

Cool I am hoping I get lucky and wont need anything more than what I have but preparing for the worst. I have had a few loads in the back of the truck much heavier than the cap will be and did not look any different but it was not for an extended amount of time either. However the caps are not to heavy maybe 200lbs max for a dcsb.

OZ-T did you notice any sag from your cap or did you compensate before putting it on?

I think a lot of it has to do with the age of your current springs. Mine have 27K on them so fairly new. My cap is being built now. I'm gonna get it installed then see where it sits. I'm trying to use up factory suspension because it's worth nothing. I may use rear block until the shocks are shot.
