Before I get yelled at, I am not yet to the point of harming these cats.

My neighbors purchased their house and moved in a few months ago. They brought with them their outside only cat. After a couple months of them feeding their cat outside, every cat in the freakin town is coming to their house. The problem is that these cats are jumping my fence and shitting in the gardens in my yard (one veggie garden, one herb garden and a few with just landscaping). The dog being a dog goes out there and rolls in the shit.
We called animal control about it (health hazard with cats crapping and pissing on the food in the garden and dog coming inside after rolling) but they said that there is nothing they can/will do because there is no ordinance about keeping cats outside within city limits. So, I went out and rented a live trap and set it up with tuna as bait. Does anyone have other suggestions to catching these cats? I already have a no kill shelter that is willing to take any cats that I can catch.
Besides all the shit, the cats have marked the porch, shed and some of the firewood (which was then taken to the dump). If the live trap doesn't do the job, or if there aren't any other ideas that work, I am going to stop being nice.

A side note so people don't think I hate cats. Prior to the neighbors moving in, there was a cat that roamed around the area (neighboring properties and school across the street), but it didnt mark or crap on our property. Other than coming around to hunt, the only time it was around would be in the winter when it would sleep under my car (and once on the back bumper under the car cover).

Sorry for the rant. Any ideas other than the live trap to start getting rid of these cats?

Why not talk to the neighbor? Feeding strays is never a good thing as they'll never leave a free food source.

Live trap and relocate to the shelter will be a more permanent and more humane way of dealing with it

If the live trap doesn't work, next step planned is firecrackers. Thats how I got rid of the raccoons before the guy that use to live there got put in an assisted living place.

Landlines are the problem. They are leaving them all over the place. I'll give the repellant a try if the live trap doesn't work within the week that I rented it for.

Care face...... personally I wouldn't waste the time transporting them. They'll be fine running around with a little pellet in their ass. Is death possible, yup but not likely. Used to see pellets in cats and dogs all the time when I worked veterinary medicine years ago. Would see them on xray as a unrelated artifact. So common we called them oklahoma tattoos.

That's the nicest thing anyone has said about me.
Not really, I just don't feel like getting picked up for cruelty to animals.

They seem to stay away from a paint can of antifreeze by the trash cans. They also stayed away from a can of aircraft paint stripper that was out there.

Didn't realize that was a color. What is it, a new name for pink?
