I got a cheap low pressure air gauge from the company Slime on Amazon. Under five bucks I think and it works great. I use it for the air bags and my atv tires.

Thanks, I think they have those at my local Autozone or Kragen. I'll check it out.

    FYI

This info is straight from Firestone.....you do not....I repeat....DO NOT need to air down the bags if the truck is going to be lifted off the ground and they said the Daystars are a waste of money. In fact if you have a failure using the Daystars, Firestone will not warranty the product. They said it is a wives-tale that modern airbag helper springs will burst if the rear axle drops to full extension...regardless of the amount of air in the bag. Don't shoot the messenger on this one, just sharing the info I got. Their instructions make no mention of needing to do anything special if the vehicle is going to be lifted as well (corrected...lifted in this instance means picked up on a 2 post lift in a shop, not a suspension lift).

I've had the Firestone airbags on my Tacoma for about 10,000 miles and couldn't be happier. I usually set them around 20-25psi for daily driving and a bit higher when towing my quads.

Lol. This is BS. With too much lift and too much flex, they can easily be ripped apart. Ive seen it happen (not on a Tacoma but same style setup). They mention nothing special about lifted applications because the bags by themselves are not designed to be used on a lifted application. I guarantee their warranty wont cover them if they find out its on a lifted truck either. Just because you spoke to some one at Firestone dosent necessarily mean you spoke to some one who knows what their talking about.

As I said, "Don't shoot the messenger". I'm sure he was talking about a stock application. Obviously a lifted truck is s different story. There are a lot of people referring to this thread now & the info should be available that the cradles shouldn't be necessary for a non-lifted truck.

Not trying to shoot the messenger, what your saying is a bit conflicting because of the above statement. I 100% agree that cradles are not necessary with stock height suspension. I hope that no one purchased a set because of a misconception they got from this thread. My truck is lifted slightly in the rear and i knew in time it would be even more, that and the fact that my truck is used off road is why i went with the cradles.

Ahhhh....you are correct....I meant picked up on a lift....like the 2 post lifts that most garages use not a suspension lift. Silly semantics!!!

These bags are driving me nuts. So I found a leak at the brass threaded nipple that goes into the top of the bag after I put everything back onto the truck. Had to take it all apart again and those 4 nuts/bolts on the back are a PIA!! I fixed that leak.

Now it seems like I might have a leak at the hose to fitting connection somewhere. Its driving me nuts!! I sprayed soap water after the first leak was fixed and didn't see bubbles elsewhere, I guess I have to check again.

No sweat! I out mine in last night & they make a very noticeable difference in ride. I haven't really weighed the bed down yet, but just the weight of my cap alone dropped the suspension a bit. I'm sure these will be a great addition to the truck!

OK...so I ended up having to use them for a road trip to Myrtle Beach towing motorcycles in my enclosed trailer. The bags were AWESOME...I was wrestling with whether I should get bags or a load leveling hitch & glad I went with the bags. My trailer is a 6X12 with a 6' high roof. In order to fit 3 bikes in it, one of them has to go all the way up into the V which puts a lot of weight on the tongue. When I would tow my bike in the past, I would really notice the tongue weight. With the bags, almost had no idea it was there. That's the good news.

Bad news......towing an enclosed trailer DESTROYS fuel economy!!! Total weight of the trailer bikes & gear was only around 4,000lbs, but my fuel economy was cut in half. 4 weeks ago, I did a road trip to OBX without the trailer & got close to 21MPG doing close to 80 the whole way. With the trailer, I got anywhere from 9 to 12 MPG. And it didn't seem like speed really mattered all that much. Kept it under 65 for one tank & got 10. Did 75 on the next tank & got 11.

Got home a few days ago and installed my ride rites this morning. they lifted the back so I have that factory rake again that I like and the install was fairly easy.

SO I have been scanning these forums about these bags and would like to try them out being I pull a trailer and haul all kinds of junk also having a cap and full tool box don't help. Anyway, I have a OME 3 in coil over and dakars in the back, so DO I NEED THE CRADDELS OR NOT?
