And I know we're talking about trucks, but for the off topic / random post of the day, since some have mentioned muscle cars, these get me excited, in a special kind of way. :D

I agree, I see it mostly in the front bumper design and the fog light cutout.

If you read the whole article they point out that this was done only on Superduty trucks, not the half tons. Dodge rates there payloads WAY to high for the coil setup they use in the rear. We have a long box F250 FX4 and my work truck is a regular box Dodge 2500 SLT. The FX4 handles loads way better if it's over 1000 lbs, hands down.

Manufacturers are always fudging weight and towing numbers. The 3500 Ram didn't change a part for several years yet went from 24,000 to 30,000 pounds towing. Others have done similar things as well. It's actually amazing what our trucks can handle, the weights are engineer determine but I have a feeling they always hold something back so they can give more when they get challenged. We all win that way.

The eco boost also uses a graphite iron block. The same used for there diesel engines.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make? I still think a diesel Colorado is going to cost an insane amount of money compared to anything else on the market. An Ecoboost isn't that much more over a 6.2 L Hemi or Chevy engine, but a Duramax Mini is going to be a lot more than anything else in the class given there current pricing.

I did read the whole article. I'm sure all the manufacturers tweak numbers to their benefit. I'm not taking sides. But Ford said they only use the modified calculations on the heavier duty trucks, not the F150's. And we should believe them why? The article also quotes one of their own dealers who takes them to task and goes on to say, it's not just about bragging rights. Overloading one of their vehicles could be grounds for voiding of the warranty.

I only posted the article because this thread has become a pretty interesting overall truck discussion. Regardless, when buying anything, it should always be "buyer beware".

I am not taking a side in whatever has been said until now nor have I read the mentioned article, but this worries me.

That's like someone telling you they only lie to you about things that happened on Wednesday. Everything else, you can believe!

Truck has got to be heavier. Doubt it has a composite bed, so that will make some difference there.

That does look better than the Chevy version. The front end of the Colorado is really awful IMO.

I didn't say you should trust all car companies. I was actually saying you should trust none of there numbers. Do you really think a 2nd gen Tacoma becomes unsafe once you tow 6501 lbs? No, there's probably a structual limit somewhere a few hundred, or maybe a thousand, pounds above this. Most trucks with boxed frames are now overbuilt for the wieght limits they hold. Don't trust them to be under or over until you drive the truck with weight yourself.

I can tell you from driving both Ford Superduties and Dodge Heavy Duties, I'd rather be near weight in the Superduty IMHO

    5.7L V6 and a 4.6L 4-Cyl? Dually Tacoma? Picture of a Tundra interior?

They're just making random stuff up.

That's what I was thinking :( The first article sounded more realistic.

I have seen tens of those articles. It must just be to keep traffic on their site? :notsure: I don't really appreciate it...

Although I don't recall seeing the dually Tacoma.

I guess that's a Dually Tundra now that I look closer...at first I thought it was their portrayal of a next-gen Dually Tacoma :D

Just saw their line about a hybrid variant being possible. Somehow, I doubt that!
