    I ordered a heavy duty. I will add a grounding wire to the mount to make it better. As for the power I also have an aux fuse box under the hood. Would that be better or worse than straight to the battery?

    I got confused what you were doing between the fuse box and battery... apparently nothing (which makes sense) hence why I was confused.

    Yeah Thats how I have it minus the lock washer I think. But definitely insulated then metal up top

    Your ground is bad. Idk what fuse you piggy backed but thats your issue. Need ti wire it straight to the battery for the best results.

    Been in Lusk, Wheatland and Cheyenne for work this week. So much storm action, Love IT! Crazy summer we're having :cool:

    My trip back to WI was good. put 2200 miles on the truck in one week... Wah, lots of window time. I had my drivers side diff seal go out on me on the way home and had to put a new one in at home in WI. Whiiiich sucked cuz i pounded it in too far the first time and it puked all the oil out overnight. Got it right on day two and drove back to WY that afternoon lol. Seals are no fun when they dont go well.

    For troubleshooting, I would agree that running a power wire directly to the battery is a good idea. However, for the record. I have since moved mine from the battery to a bluesea power block under the hood and had no negative impact on the CB's SWR. :notsure:
