That was quick, hopefully they take care of you.
Damn... I guess that's one way to throw away $60 - 70k and enjoy a nice trip to the hospital.

My girl has a Toshiba Satellite c655. One of the hinges are broken, and it overheats easily. Looking into it, they are both common problems with those models.

Her HP desktop runs fine though.

Lol, I honestly don't think I'll ever do enough with mine to work it hard enough to overheat.

Got a question for you seasoned New England guys,

being fairly new to New England and still a complete Newbie to Tacomas I have a question about the 1st Gens and the recalls especially the one about the spare tire area.

I have an 07 with a suspect Frame and there is a pretty nice 04 DC with 70K on the odometer which is 21K less than mine...I have been seriously thinking of trading mine in for that to get a better truck with lower miles and possible relatively newer frame. but here is the kicker, I pulled the VIN off of auto trader and punched it into Toyota's main site and it still showed that the Recall for the spare tire cross member has not been done. I contacted the dealer and he had no clue on the condition of the frame due to that it is a new listing.

I kinda got a good grasp on what was done during the frame issue but if anyone here has bought a 1st Gen with a non inspected frame that had issues later what was the pain in the ass level to get it fixed

Is there a record for a frame inspection? Because they'll have done a crossmember inspection at the same time.
Also, given that it's a recall, I don't believe it has an expiration unless expressly stated in the recall (for instance, Toyota's frame recall extends for 15 years past the in-service date)

They likely did the new cross member with the new frame, at last that's how mine was. I had the cross member recall open on mine for a while. When I finally took it in they saw the new frame and noted the cross member gets done with the frame, so it's a non issue. For trucks that didn't get a new frame it could need to be replaced, but re-framed trucks it's already done.

that is something that I am waiting for the dealer to research due to the the fact you cannot sell a vehicle with an outstanding recall, also I noticed when Toyota did the recalls on my airbag and pedals the recall notices were removed from my owners page on the Toyota website. which is why I am leaning to the side of this recall not being done....

one thing I did forget to mention is that on the carfax the previous own is listed as US Govt (which would explain the low miles and extensive service records)

Like I said its a sharp truck, I have always loved the 1st Gen body style I just dont want to jump from one suspect frame to another

So far so good, it was re framed in 2012. Still looks brand new besides where it's been dragged across rocks and I drilled holes in it for my sliders.

Man...so much to catch up on.

Today was not my day...blew up a UPS at work. was so concerned about making sure I got the wiring right that I didn't realize I crossed my 110VAC in and out. That was little to no fun.

I need to look into getting a new computer sooner versus later. I'm running a Toshiba Netbook now for my day to day, but with a small processor and little RAM it's starting to really be slow for what I want. I have an old Dell that works better for watching videos, but nothing works on it anymore (battery, clickpad, etc) and I took it to China so I don't ever want to use it to log into anything. I'm thinking since I've got the house now that the desktop route is the wayt o go. I just wish getting something that isn't completely entry level isn't necessarily cheap. I want something that will last me 5 or so years. I'm still torn between Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I know that 7 will work fine for my usage but it's hard to find systems that still have them (and it will be even more difficult by the time I have enough saved to get one) and Windows 8.1 seems to have less hate than Windows 8. I'm just looking forward to getting my 560 watt surround sound from college hooked back up again.

As far as rental vehicles...when I was in Aruba a lot of places rented Jeeps to explore the island. Most of the major chains said you couldn't take them off road and the majority of local places said off-roading was fine, but avoid the natural pools. The place I found gave me directions to it.

That Raptor video was crazy, but that's one of those "what'd you expect to happen?" I see the same thing when I see stupid overpowered cars hit things. My favorite is watching high RPM Subaru donuts blowing motors...sigh.

Stay firm. Keep escalating to a case manager. Keep calling him/her daily. Make sure they transfer the remainder of your original warranty if it was longer then the refurbished/replacements (refurb is typically 1 year). They like to forget this step. Good luck.

That sucks. I've owned only HP laptops in my life. 2 in 15 years. Never had an issue. Never run any virus protection or anything. Make them give you what you paid for, nothing less. Good luck
