Best Reason To Change Your Own Oil.....

Rightly said. I can maybe understand not wanting to change the oil on your car because of jack stands or ramps (inacessability for some people) but theres no reason why you cant change the oil yourself on the Tacomas (unless your some huge guy who cant fit). These stories are a testament to the fact that one should never go to some craptastic place to get your oil changed.

 

Not a reason to change your own oil but a good reason not to take your truck to Walmart.

Seriously, Walmart? I wouldn't have even posted about my Walmart experience because it would show that I took my truck to Walmart? Walmart?

 

Been there and done that! I heard there was lots complaint with their service. Happened to my old trailblazer.

 

I'll agree on it being a Great reason to do it your self,,,,

I'm impressed the truck ran for 6 months with the goop in the trans. The complainant in this case really dragged his feet too...

 

Gotta love how people try to save a few bucks at Wally world and end up losing thousands.

 

I have heard these stories or ones involving most quicky lubes.
Stripped drain plugs, not putting any oil in, putting too much oil in, not changing filter, loose filter falling off, wrong oil or fluid put in.

Well worth it to me to change my own to avoid having some min. wage person that is not a real mechanic dicking around while doing my service.

I understand folks not wanting to or knowing how to have to go somewhere but I would spend a few more bucks and at least go to a dealer or a REAL mechanic.

 

I would never support that sh_t hole for even a pack of gum they have destroyed small business all over north america. I would rather do it myself outside during a -30 blizzard in my undies

 

Only reason my truck goes to Walmart is to buy the oil going into it...

 

Sorry, but I am not gonna shed a tear on that one. Small businesses have come and gone long before Wal-Mart was ever on the scene. People bitched the same about Sears and K-Mart back in the day when they were the big Kahuna. Many small buisnesses continue to thrive because they evolved to find the niche that Wal-Mart does not serve or does not serve well. I am not gonna pay a 25% premium for my daily toothpaste, ass wipes and dog food to support a local "mom and pop".

My 84 year old Grandfather summed it up well when he said that he did not miss spending 3/4 of his Saturday going to 10 separate places, when one stop at Wal-Mart got it done.

 

Well I guess when Im 84 yrs young and I mainly crap in a diaper ass wipe won't be a big ticket purchase, and when I'm 84 and the teeth I have I take out before bed and put em in a glass of water then toothpaste won't be a big issue either, and the dog food I have to eat because of inflation I will still get from my neighbors dog "spyke's" bowl while he is preoccupied humping my leg, but until then I will shop else where and avoid the mini van lots and good ol' cheese burger eating trailer park folks at walmart

Amen and part of business is putting your competition under, and last I checked they provide jobs and you cannot go anywhere without getting something made overseas, now I wouldnt go there to get my oil changed, the people that work back there look like they should be stocking shelves, and if you go to a dealership you are alot more protected from accidents that might happen, walmart is good for food and toothpaste, just not mechanics. Makes me feel better my money at least isnt going to union pigs

I hate Walmart, the store is WAY too big and I can't find a damn thing I'm looking for anyways! Besides I would rather pay the $0.25 extra and support my local grocery store for toothpaste. An interesting side note, Global BC did a back to school report on what stores were the cheapest for school items, Walmart was the most expensive by $10.00 over Superstore and Staples!

 

X2.....and that's another reason I do both my Taco and the wife's Sienna she has not complained ..yet

 

I'm a Wally-hater as well...I live in Orleans parish for reasons like this...I have no desire for the life of me to visit a strip mall, mega store or shopping mall, all of which are largely non-existent here. I do end up making a few extra stops to get the stuff I need, and I might pay 10-15% more for the goods. At least I know who is benefiting from my business...there is no fat-cat executive at the mom and pop, just mom and pop, and they're just about as poor as I am, but more often than not they are nice and HONEST people. On top of that, if they don't have something you need, they will order it for you and stock it, try getting that kind of service at walmart ...

It could've been worse. They could've tried to refill the transmission by dumping the tranny fluid into the coolant reservoir or something.
