It's possible, but not at all common I think. To those who are getting that congrats. I have to much foot and I wish to enjoy my life too much to get that sort of mileage.

I avg 16.1 mpg and have only had my truck two weeks and I am thinking of going back to an F150 when the 15's arrive.

Very dissapointed since my last F150 Supercrew 4wd with the 5.0 got 17.2 mpg at the same 80mph that i drive everyday for 3/4 of my 47 mile drive to work 5-7 days a week to work.

The only thing wrong with the last f150 is I flipped it and its totalled. I walked away with a concussion. Driver error

I bought this truck because its easier to get into my garage, I thought I'd get 17-18mpg and I don't need a fullsize truck or really a truck at all but maybe 10-15 times per year. I have had both a car and truck in the past but dont need two payments or feel like insuring two vehicles. I am single obviously.

I definitely don't think the Tacoma is going anywhere, but the V6 is in desperate need of an upgrade. If you can buy an F150 with a V6 that makes 300+ horsepower and gets 25 MPG EPA, there is a serious deficiency when you have a V6 in a mid size that only makes 236 HP and struggles to get 20 MPG. If I could get a mid size pickup with the Ford Ecoboost, or the RAM EcoDiesel, and a decent offroad suspension set up from the factory, I would buy it in a second, I don't care who makes it.

I have enjoyed the suspension package on my Tacoma, but its the most underpowered vehicle I've owned since my 4-banger Subaru Outback, and it barely gets better mileage than my girlfriend's 5.4l F150. If Toyota keeps resting on their laurels, and doesn't bring out a V6 that makes 300+ HP and is rated in the mid 20s for fuel economy, or introduce a diesel, or both, they are going to lose significant market share.

I would like to a frame off a truck from the North that has survived the Salt on the roads. I mean seriously if you want a good frame then take of your frame.

The frame rust issue was with one of the three frame manufacturers that Toyota contracted to build the frames. They also recalled and replaced them. I will take frame rust that is free to fix over mechanical problems any day.

If you think having a light foot impedes the happiness of life, then by all means don't do it. However I can testify that having a light foot is not that much of a sacrifice. When I am with others or need to get somewhere (i.e. when my overtime pay exceeds the cost of fuel and I can get to work earlier) I get it up there. See you at the stop light anyway. :notsure:

I don't mean to seem passive aggressive or anything, but maybe you're using the happiness thing to justify not trying to get better mileage? I just don't see the link between driving lightly and not enjoying life... I enjoy hundreds of dollars/year over EPA.

Saw a 2015 colorado on the road yesterday. It had an avalanche style looking roll bar on the back. It defiantly is an eye catcher good bad or otherwise.
Not sure if it was a truck sold or a test vehicle. Where I live we see manufacture test vehicles all the time.

If Toyota don't start addressing some of the vibration issues on the Tacoma they have had since the 2012 model I think they will lose some sales to the Colorado. I love Tacoma trucks but I am very much considering a new Colorado which I hope will be shudder and vibration free.

 What is that? Sonnax zipkit, trans go shift kit? I have never heard of that.

Please be sure that you have tried every solution on TW before passing up on such a great truck. I understand a problem that bugs you that much sending you to a new vehicle though. Especially from one that's supposed to be the best  I hope you can fix it.

To you and Charlie G, I have heard that axle shims help the vibration, do y'all know anything about that?

    Not enough...
So i just went through a few pages or this thread.

    Complaint #1: Terrible Gas Milage
Complaint #2: Made in Mexico (not all, but lots of them)

My Baja says "Made in U.S.A" on the door jamb sticker no problems so far, but i've only owned it for 2 weeks. My VW Jetta was made in Mexico and was a piece of garbage. Both of my X3's were made in USA on the same plant. First one, '08 model was rock solid. Second one, '11 model must've been made on a Friday, because it was a basket case. No engine issues in 50K miles, but literally half of interior and exterior trim was replaced.

    As far as gas milage,
    '08 328i 3.0L 230HP would get 20MPG average.
    '08 X3 3.0L 260HP would get 17MPG average
    '11 X3 3.0L 260HP would get 18MPG average

Nothing spectacular, i would say. This was also on Premium gas and those cars weight less than the Taco and much more aerodynamic.

Here is a completely non-scientific test I did yesterday. I live on top of a 3 mile long hill road and had to go visit a friend of mine 12 miles away. After the hill most of the way there is either flat or a slight downgrade and opposite on the way back. Took exact same route, drove 40-45MPH on surface streets and 70-75MPH on the freeway. AC off. Front windows rolled down.

On the way there 21.2MPG Average:

On the way back 17.2 MPG Average:

Compared to the 3 previous *cars* that i've owned, I don't see much issues with Taco gas milage. I actually pay less now than I did before.

Some fuel to add to the debate.

    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/08/julys-fastest-and-slowest-selling-pickups.html

Note that the article is about the number of days on the lot. That's how they determine "fastest selling". Interesting reader comments in the article. Some say Toyota's not building many Tacomas. I don't know the numbers, but an unscientific check of local dealer websites shows a good supply of them.
