NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart Involved In Fatal Accident

Proof is what it will boil down too. Lets face it there is no proof only specualtion, even if he is throttling up he could say it was to help avoid him. Those things can't be proven. But what can be proven is that a guy took it upon himself to endanger not only himself but other drivers by walking out onto a live race track. Look at all the vehicles that could have hit him before he finally made it to his target.

 

When the family finds the best lawyer in the country tomorrow, I'm guessing they will find more proof of intent than they know what to do with. All the videos don't help tony at all.

 

A good lawyer can prove ANYTHING.

 

Why this guy jumped out of his car is beyond me. The crash with Tony did not look to be anything more than a racing incident. He should never have jumped out of his car over that.
How some of you are saying Tony tried to hit this guy is ridiculous. For all you know Kevin tried to jump in front of his car. I doubt either happened. Most likely Tony did not see Kevin until it was too late..

 

And Tony wont have a team of amazing lawyers?

 

There will definitely be a civil case and I can assure you Stewart will lose regardless of the facts. Juries love to award massive amounts of money in cases like this.

That was probably Stewarts last dirt track race. I think he will stick solely to Sprint Cup from now on.

 

What an avoidable tragedy.

I just watch it, it's really hard to tell.

It seems like maybe Tony jerked to the left when he saw the guy (probably hard to see him specially with the dark suit), then possibly the car started to slide ass end out to the right toward the guy, maybe in a split second oh shit attempt to correct it from sliding side ways over the guy he gave it some gas and steered back to the right. That's kinda my thought.
The guy should've stayed in his car. I bet Tony is feeling sick about it. Bad situation.

Yep. No winners here. And Tony is the only person who knows what Tony was thinking at the time. Regardless, he is the one who will have to live with it if it was on purpose; of which I'm not implying.

 

He was a fool to put himself in harm's way by exiting his car. The un-sportsman like conduct of going up to Stewart for a confrontation on a live track used very little brainpower.

You may not like this, but this whole incident is Ward's fault.

I think its horrible that it'll probably take a tragedy like this to make new rules against getting out of you car on an active race track.

 

It's hard to know what was intentional and what was not. Watching multiple videos it sounds like the engine revs up right beforehand. Could it be another car's engine? Absolutely. Who knows? I find it hard to believe that he didn't see Ward with plenty of time. One thing is for certain, Tony took the highest line of every car after the wreck. That's blatantly irresponsible regardless of whether someone is in or outside their car. It is hard to tell the exact moment when, but his wheels turn right toward Ward. Was that a result of hitting him? Possibly. Could Tony have been trying to scare Ward or something like that? Maybe. The only person who knows the intent and reasoning is Tony Stewart. Stewart had no business on a line that high and Ward had no business running down to the middle of the track like that. Regardless of your bias, BOTH drivers had a hand in this.

 

I honestly don't understand why there needs to be a rule. To me and probably millions of others when there are cars actively speeding around a dirt track, asphalt track, whatever track. Don't get out of the damn car unless it's on fire. It's COMMON SENSE If I rear ended you in traffic on a busy interstate. You wouldn't get out in the middle of the road and try to start shit with 18 wheelers flying by would you? Common sense says get to the side of the road then hash it out.

Regardless if it was accidental or at fault the driver of the other car should have never went out of his car. Does an engine rev up... yep. Does stewarts car strike him... Yep. Was he trying to scare him probably. Is it unfortunate yes. Can we blame 100% on stewart nope.


There's a video on youtube at moab of some kid jumping under a tacoma while doing a crossing and the tacoma goosed it and almost crushed the poor kid. Would it have been drivers fault or kids fault had that kid been crushed?

x2 What an unfortunate, avoidable, tragedy. Just stay in your car and dispute it after the race. My guess is the near miss with the 45 car blocked Stewarts view of Ward, in his dark suit, until it was too late. If you look, stewart was more sideways that others, showing he had the intent of trying to steer out of the way, but the dirt just made him slide. Throttle could have been to quickly straighten him back out after he realized he was just sliding.

Stewart himself called out nascar a few years ago saying that nascar was becoming the wwe/wwf of the racing world. I think they fined him maybe not but they didn't like his comments.
