Lol, no worries man! I know how it goes. We will continue to update this thread as we get more trails mapped/planned.

If you can join for the first day, it will be a good time. I'm hoping we can snag a good campsite early, so we can leave some rigs there if needed and then hit more trails.

 

What are you guys packing for lunches?

 

My truck makes a much better campsite anchor than rock crawler at the moment.

 

Any Idea what the weather may be like? I figure it should be warm but since we will be up in the mountains I don't know if it will be noticeably cooler?

 

Not sure where you got that, but depending on how high up we are, 70s seems accurate if we are up high, but down in the valley its going to be HOT.

 

officially got my CB working again tonight.

 

also do we still want to start a list of bigger items that individuals are bringing to prevent 11 cookers?

Will anyone have a HAM/race radio for this run, or is everyone all on CB's only?

 

I have a ham but I don't have a license so it is only for listening at the moment.

 

Probably pack some easy stuff that doesn't involve cooking for lunches: PB&J, fruits, chips/crackers, granola bars, trail mix etc.

I mainly graze throughout the day, and save the bigger stuff for dinner. Also, I wouldn't mind doing at least one meal at Whistlin' Jacks - maybe lunch on Day 1, or maybe breakfast/lunch on the last day

I have an old stove that I will be bringing, along with a 2.5 gallon propane tank w/ hose attachment. I will also bring a small collapsible table, which always seems to be in short supply.

Same here. Mike (Chickenmunga) and I both have 2M VHF Radios that are for SAR, but no tech. licenses. In an emergency scenario, I would definitely use it if needed...but CB should be good (enough) for this trip.

 

It works as a good 'last meal' - when everyone heads for home. No cleanup and time to recount the trip a bit.

I think let's decide how many stoves are needed, since most of us have one.

I will have mine as well. It's pretty much good for a stove and your immediate cooking material.

Unless we program them for a different channel, they aren't going to help. The channels we have are restricted use even if you have a ham license.

 

So it looks like we'll have plenty of stoves. I'll bring a propane fire pit which is approved. A trip just isn't the same without a fire to sit around! I'll also bring something for us to make a table of sorts.

Also bringing my spill kit from the last Gitout trip, an extra CV, fire extinguisher and a water filter as backup. I'm going to try my best at relocating my CB antenna before the weekend, since the RTT made my current location inaccessible.

Anybody bringing something for plinking or leave that behind for a different trip?

I will have a few things to plink with. Sadly my recently acquired 92fs wont be here in time...

 

are we going to hit that old section of Oregon Trail we ran last year with the GitOut guys?

 

No - we will be a bit further south of the historic wagon trail.

 

I'll have a stove as well as a table. I've got a 105qt Yeti that holds quite a bit of stuff too if anyone needs to keep stuff cool.

 

Also got a propane stove, couple tables, chairs, awnings etc.

Haven't gotten comms really setup yet, but I can receive almost anything civilian and tx a short distance on handheld CB. Haven't dusted off my SAR VHF since moving out here so its still programmed for east coast frequencies (not sure what's used out here), and I don't have my own license anyways.

Planning on leaving things that goes boom at home for this trip.
