ya, the headlights are always on in some first gens

 

The more you know.....

I was under the impression 1st gens had just regular good old fashioned selectable headlights

 

some of them do, i think it was an option when buying the truck.

Replaced the sealed beam headlights - one of which was cracked - with Rampage halogens. Since I had the grille off I re-painted the black plastic area, popped off the logo and painted it gold chrome, and re-painted the lower trim as well to match the grille. Next up is a bug shield.

 

Did some seriously needed maintenance this weekend and threw in a couple new parts.

New S&B air intake (POS, never buy one, its crap). I'm going to look at replacing it in the near future, but I had to have something since you can see my factory air box was toast.
AEM dry flow filter on it.
ADD W1 oil catch can.
New plugs and wires (the original plugs were still in this thing at 188K )
Did a little exhaust wrap on the Air intake tube...not sure if that is going to help any, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.









All cleaned up and put back together.

 

Mine are disabled, on a 2000 , just unplug it.....took about 20 sec.

No cutting anything...

 

Guess I'm lucky and my truck came with selectable headlights lol

Hi Lauren.. Really ?? wow, didn't know there was an on/off option , mine has the DRL because it was made in Canada/for Ca. , thats the info I get on it...Some states do , some don't.....

You ARE lucky....& special too.....

 

Yeah , just unplug from that little box/heatsink looking thing on dr side wheel well under hood, next to dr side headlight , easy as hell to get to also

 

Although it may be different on years '01 & up...

 

whaaaat? the only thing i could find for the drl is under the dash? u dont have a pic do u?

 

Haha yeah I just have the knob on the steering wheel so I can choose just the corner lights or those and headlights. Can't remember where my truck was made, pretty sure the us though.

 

Same here, just the light on/off on the stalk. 02 sr5...
