I'm sorry, on tapa talk I can't tell what year truck you have so when I see posts I just think it's a 1st gen, since that's what I have. But since your a second gen your stock spare location might be different than mine on my first gen. Like I said, I had to cut the ends of the brackets to make the 255/85 fit in that spot. That being said, since your a 2nd gen it may not apply to you if toyota changed up the spare tire brackets.

    Berk,
Nice looking truck! I really like the std cab looks (but own an Access Cab for the additional room out of the weather).

For the record, my spare is on a swing out gate at the back of the truck and I have a 3 gallon air tank where the spare was under the truck.

I've got some 8" 4.5 BS rims in my shed I was gonna use when I go to 35s. NoW I just might get them out and painted to try on my 255s

Why do these look so much bigger on everyone elses trucks? DO the Maxxis Bighorns run small? I feel like they look dinky on mine and awesome on everyone elses trucks.

Did you get your alignment done before getting new tires? If not I would recommend it.

My 255 KM2's run so great on road I never put my 265/70 Duratracs back on so my guess is something is wrong because mine don't wander one bit.

Provide a measurement and we will check... I have a brand new KM2 and also a Interco 255 I can measure for comparison.

    255 spare tire
To me unless you rotate in your spare tire during regular rotations, then it doesn't matter if it's the same size as the other four. As it's only used to get you to the tire store. Put the biggest spare you get get that requires the least amount of modification.

I hear you, but I don't think I know of anyone who has a full size spare that actually rotates in as part of the regular rotation. I don't even do it and my tires are the same size, plus it's a stock black steel wheel.

Anyone know how well a 285/70/17 will fit under there?

I'll measure as soon as I can. Think it would be better to measure with the tire off the ground?

You do know it's not good to drive on a different sized tire right? and that most offroad parks won't even let you in the trails without a correct sized matching spare?

Not having a correctly sized spare =

Read and learn please before telling more people horrible info http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=18

Don't listen to everything you read on the web:D

My spare is an almost worn out 255 from my last set of tires. Should still count and get me home. Just wish it had a little more tread

Yes, because both my reference tires will have no weight on them. Also wouldn't hurt to use the same PSI. You tell me and Ill adjust mine to meet yours.

Also be exact in your measurements and take pics of what/where you are measuring to and Ill conform to what you measure to so the data is worthwhile.

I know that it's not good to, I don't need tirerack to tell me that. I don't know anything about offroad parks and their rules, I've never been to any in AZ.

It is ME telling you it's bad and using their site as a reference.

So you know it's bad, yet tell others to do it... that's a pretty screwed up thing to say to other members. :der:

My plan if I have a flat on the rear is to move a 255 from the front to the rear and place the 265 spare on the front. I am sure its not the best for the front diff but it would get me to the trail head or tire shop.
