Hopefully he'll just let it go and get on with his life. I've been on both ends of this situation and niether one is any fun. By the sounds of it he knew it was coming.

I think the OP meant 'tell us again why he was fired'.

I personally think hes been trying to get fired for months. All he did was bitch and moan about his job. I have been telling my wife for months for get rid of him, she would write him up and give him chance after chance.

He always did the Bare minmum to get by, not budging from his "job discription"... He also confused casual with disrespectful, and ignoring the chain of command. He was on his OWN clock. Also bad mouthing his colleagues continued.....

FYI: He was maintenance man, and with the comapny for 5+ years.

i would advise your neighbors of the incident and tell them what kind of vehicle he drives...in case he swings by your neighborhood to smash up her/your vehicles, also if the business has outdoor cameras, make sure they are working, especially around company cars, etc. he may come back to vandalize something, make harassing calls/emails, or send something odd in the mail..

if any threats are made by him, document them

    good luck

im guessing the biggest threat from him is the copy machine breaking down due to lack of maintenance

Firing by text is about the weakest, lamest thing you could possibly do. It's pathetic from the point of view of the employer, and totally disrespectful from the point of view of the employee.

I agree... I would never do that. But it is done and over with now so now I will wait and see if he retaliates. Hopefully it just all goes away.....

I have to say this is some of the best advice and you need to run with it. It's the best thing to do if you feel you and your family may be personally targeted by a shmuck like this guy.

sounds like this guy has some issues, maybe go to the police before you fire him and let them know about the threats that he has made against you.

Hey, i'm glad everything went good. I would still just keep a look out though for the next couple weeks. Especially since he's made comments like that before. Just be very careful at night especially. Your wife and daughter both need to stay in well lit areas around many people. Just be very cautious. Once again, i'm very happy to hear everything went well. :D
