How are we doing?

 

Waiting for warmer weather to go fishing and run the Harley.

 

glad it's finally spring!

 

We had 2 weeks of spring and jumped into Summer. It was almost 100 today.

 

I'm getting ready to go to Moab for my first off-roading.

 

That's a long drive, for you, are you camping along the way?

 

We'll divide the drive there into three days, with the third day being the shortest leg. I have a "cabin" at Moab Rim camp ground for most of the stay at Moab. We'll camp at Murphy on the White Rim trail one night.

 

Spring visited us a couple of weeks ago and then left. It must've been too chilly. We had snow on Monday and Tuesday this week. 38 degrees right now but should get into the 60's today. I do love these cool, crisp mornings! I will be looking for elk in the morning.

Still lots of snow drifts across FS roads. Found several hundred elk Saturday and Sunday. Beautiful weekend. I'll try to post some pictures tonight.

Wow, that sound great, can't wait to see the pics.

The annual snow report came in from the Sierras; 18% of normal. Gonna be a dry, dry year.

 

There were lots of drifts of soft snow with ice and mud under them. Since I was easily 15 miles from a paved road and I'm not a 20-something-year-old anymore, I decided to wait another week to get past these.
It's hard to see but I went straight in first and then around the right side. There is a stump hidden in the snow on the right.




Plus, I was pulling my great big camper. It doesn't have a lot of ground clearance.


Found a nice quiet place to camp.


It was a nice brisk 36.8 degrees when I got up Sunday morning.


Found lots of elk. Most were still in pods or bunches - cow/calves.




A few groups of 4 to 8 had potential bulls. Most didn't have antlers started yet. This guy did. Judging his eye guards, he's got real potential.




Looking forward to going back this weekend.
