Note the right guide. The top of it is broken and the top bolt hole is also broken.

This is the chain tensioner. Note the two grooves from the chain. Also, this is note supposed to come out of the body. The rear retainer (plastic) is broken. This truck has 127K on it. That is not bad for an 88. The chain change interval is 90k. You can go much longer but you will be flirting with disaster.

This is the #1 cylinder of the head. The seal on all four cylinders of the gasket were cracked.

The head is aluminum so it will need shaved and cracked tested. The last time I hade that done (10 years ago) it cost over $200. I found a bare head on ebay for $61 shipped and bearings at AA for $33. Plus I have $70 in seals, gaskets, and timing chain kit.

These trucks are relatively cheap to rebuild if you have the knowledge.

when taking pictures of something close up, change the camera to macro focus instead of normal focus.

Would that mean take it of the "A" setting and put it on the "Flower" setting?

LOL, so true. I got a great deal on ebay on the timing chainset. It came with the metal backed guide for the right side. Also got the gasket set at a great price too. The only issue I had is the water pump gasket was wrong. Can't win them all I guess.

It just made me nervous thinking about the timing chain/guides. I can hear them slapping so if I dont get on that soon it's going to be like falling backwards down a couple flights of stairs. :eek

Yeah, I know what you mean. My head had to come off any way so I just employed the "While you are there........" logic.
