i have a set of 6 1/2 three way speakers sitting around from a old project is it worth throwing them in on my 09 access cab the ceiling speakers are garbage and im just wondering if it is worth throwing some 6 1/2's in the door or should i just save up and get a nice set of 6 x9's instead?

I prefer a nice 6.5" over a 6x9, if I am going to be using a sub. Otherwise, a 6x9 will most likely give you a littl bit better midbass and bass response.

90% of decent sounding installs will utilize a 6.5" speaker so there isn't any reason to fear them. Anyone who says you can't get bass out of a 6.5" speaker doesn't know what their doing.

I'm assuming that you are not directing that at my post, since I didn't say you couldn't get bass out of 6.5"s. :D

Either way, I'd try the 6.5's out for now and see if they respond better than the stock POS. Then, save for a nice set of 6.5" components.

Okay sounds like it's prob worth throwing them in but from what I understand I'm going to need some sort of mounting bracket and a wire so I can hook up to the stock plugs are there any other options out there besides tacotunz? Nothing against them just wondering what's out there

I made my own mounting brackets out of mdf. 1/2" for the rear, 3/4" for the front. It wasn't difficult. I just used the stock speakers as a template. Then, I spliced in some spade connectors to the stock speaker wires.

No not at all. I've heard other people on this forum state that you can't get midbass out of 6.5's. I agree that 6x9's have the advantage in cone area but a good 6.5" speaker is hard to beat.
