If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I have some ammo to burn through (9mm and 12ga.) if there's an appropriate place for it. I also have some "extra" boxes of .45 and .308 collecting dust.

I know there are a couple gravel pits off of FS-70 near Greenwater, but that is about 2-hours NW of where we will be.

I think 9:00 @ The Tatoosh Food Market will work great.

It is roughly 2 hours from any direction we are coming from (Olympia, Bellevue, Seattle etc.)

Not this time. Mike and I will be meeting up this evening and/or tomorrow to do some more trail planning.

I would like to do the Mud Springs trail (4W696) again, it had some fun sections, great views, tight corners, off-camber, a rowdy hill climb, and exits near a cool fire-lookout cabin that we can hang out at and grab some lunch/pictures.

There are some good trail descriptions on NWJeepn and 4x4TrailInfo if you guys want to review and make suggestions.

That one seems fun. Hell they all seem fun but it's hard to judge since I don't know the area

Lost Lake could be a fun camping spot?

We need to be careful about the north ridge, there's fire up that way. I'm pretty sure though that we don't get that far north

So @AWilson013 and I will be heading south to Oregon tomorrow afternoon. We will be heading up the WABDR Thursday, camping somewhere near Packwood and meeting you all Friday morning. In case things change, or you need to get a hold of us, my number is 425-766-2921.
    Looking forward to it Gents.

And mine is 253-282-3384 if needed.

My damn 700lb springs for the Icons didn't make it in time, so I'll just be airing down a ton and rattling my teeth out of my head.

And for what it's worth, there is fuel in Packwood, and fuel in Nile (HWY 410) which is only about a 50 mile trip. In case you don't feel like filling/bringing your jerry cans.

So Guys and Gals(?)...AWilson013 and I have decided that after looking at the fire locations and the WABDR map, that our current plan is to get to at least the Chelan region. We are unsure if we'll be able to go any further north than that, but we think with the current state that we can get at least that far. Our goal with this trip, and this was before everyone changed their plans from the Lost Corner to the WABDR, was to make it to Canada. That's why both of us are taking more time off than most. So that is our plan, to at least Chelan, maybe further. Of course, with the unstable weather over the next couple of days, more fires may sprout up, and that can change our plan. But we are as of now making that our plan. If anyone wants to do that, great, if not we might double back and hook up with the rest of you in the Naches area. We still plan on starting in Oregon on the WABDR Thursday morning, and meeting you all in Packwood. This is a trip both of us have wanted to make for awhile, so we're going to see what's possible. Either way, it should be a lot of fun.

Sweet. Is anyone bringing any vertical gear? I'm still learning the area and don't know if there's any chance for a little climbing where we're going.

Sweet! Will we be able to park near it or is it a hike to it? I am just concerned with leaving gear in out trucks.

This trail and recreation area is closed until 2015 to all entry. We were really disappointed. We have done this trail before and love it!! Our then 3 , 6 , and 8 year olds all hiked it with no issues. Wish the official park page would note the closure. I do not know the condition of the trail , but I had to select something...so disregard.

Yup, just called the Ranger station. She said it's Closed for renovations and will likely not re-open until April.

I let her know that they should post a notice on the website so people (like us) don't get our hopes up :(
