My supervisor (also a tacoma owner) informed me of the recall. I immediately called the dealer. Turns out my VIN qualifies... if it wasn't obvious by the following pics. I actually chose my TW username because of the corrosion :p My appointment is next Wednesday, by which the dealer said they will be done with the inspection/spray after two days. I'll post up some after pics to conclude my experience next Friday.

    Stock...for now
I got one too but I inspected the frame and it only has minor surface rust nothing severe. I hope I don't have to fight them to do the whole frame not just certain parts.

For those of you who applied Fluid Film or Krown or similar coating recently, are you waiting a year or so until Fluid Film wears off to get the CRC done or are you getting it done asap? Or are you just going to keep spraying Fluid Film on your own and reject Toyota CRC coating?

I just got the whole truck Krowned a month before I received the letter and in all honesty I don't really feel like letting the dealer touching the truck for this atm.

I wonder if CRC coating would even work or stick over Fluid Film or Krown or similar coating

The tech told me that the CRC is junk lol I'd rather just keep using fluid film...

Take the CRC because if it rusts out within the 15 year warranty you get a new frame. Doesnt matter if its junk, good. You've got 15 years from sale date of warranty if you take the coating toyota wants. if you DONT do the crc and your frame rusts out next year, you're shit out of luck.

personally I'm taking the crap undercoating and then ill fluid film the body only as usual then bring it in for an inspection again before the end of the warranty and collect my new frame lol

You got till 03/2016, period. Where does it say there is a time frame on when you have the CRC done?

That is the plan so far, wait until Krown wears off and then don't do another coating, but go to the dealer for inspection and CRC application, probably in 2015 or just before the deadline in 2016.

Is Toyota's CRC similar to Fluid Film/Krown, or is it more solid undercoating that stays on and does not wear off?

Thats deadline to get the work done. They are providing a 15 year warranty on frame. so 2006(my truck year) + 15 years = 2021 is when my frame warranty will expire.

    Make sense?

Thanks! That figures...always red tape or legalities. Checked the website again and nothing.....

I don't think mine's that bad - although, I haven't been under it in 6 months. I'm afraid to look!! Only 66k miles.

All the more reason to get it sprayed NOW so it doesn't get worse.

I am aware of 1995-2000 and 2001-2004 model years 15 year frame warranty extension. Please show me in writing 2005-2008 15 year frame warranty extension. My dealer knows nothing about it.

Replacing a perforated frame is not an official 15 year frame warranty.

Well there is only approx. 35 milion people in Canada. Which means there is at least one 2005-2008 Tacoma per 1000 people. ( including kids, elderly and pregnant woman) I think it's not so bad. ;)
