Jason Topper, Bed Rug, Weather Tech floor liners, Garmin Nuvi 760, Scan Guage, Trd exhaust, AFE dry air filter, shrockworks rock sliders, heated seats Katzkin leather, 2+ inch OME lift shocks etc heavy duty, ARB front bumper, Warn winch, Pia lights, rocktek rear bumper, locking tailgate,
Left them on but know I think I will shorten the front for 2 reasons: 1) looks funny non-aerodynamic on the interstate and 2) sure bangs on the ground when you are on any type of modderately rough road. I know these aren't new reasons but they are mine.

I shortened my front ones only.... put one on a piece of light cardboard to trace the edges, then positioned the cardboard cutout on the mudflap and then used a utility knife to cut them. After that I used my dremel to smooth the edges and put them back on.. all in less than 1 hour.

just did my fronts. didnt even take them off the truck.
measured 3 inches up, drew a straight line, and cut with the tin snips.
like cutting paper with sissors. then took the piece i just cut off, placed it at the bottom of the flap and traced the round corners. took the tin snips and cut the two corners. done. it took about 7 mins per side because i took my time.

I haven't done it yet, but tonight I'm ordering a pair of flexible rubber flaps (tractor trailer style) that I'm going to trim to the factory shape but shorten up a bit. From either of the following links I can get either four of the right size or get 2 of the ones twice as wide and then cut them down. The "Buyers Rubber mud flaps" are sold in singles I think, the other place in pairs. Should be about $20 plus shipping for all four. Actually, if you're going 18" or shorter top to bottom you could get a single 24"x36" flap for just $10 and get all 4 flaps out of it.

I bought my '06 used with 40k miles. I will leave them on since I use my Taco for geologic field work. The front driver's side was cracked at the seam, so I used a good, flexable glue to firm it up. We have rough winters and a major mud season in N. Nevada, so I will definately leave them on. They do serve a purpose. I am somewhat curious on how brittle they will be in sub-zero (F) temps.

If these fail, I will replace them with some higher quality, flexable rubber ones similar to what Mainehunter has suggested... using truck flaps and modifying them. Good idea!!

Wish I could change my vote. I was stock until a curb busted one of my front flaps, so I took the other one off, too. I left the rears on for now b/c I also hate when trucks kick crap up on the road.

I shortened my front ones a couple of months ago to make them sit the same height as the rears. I think it looks much better, and they certainly get caught less often.

I was wheelin' in Anza Borrego. I was reversing in Canyon Sin Nombre. My right rear mud guard got caught between a rock and the wheel--off it went! And that was that. I did not discover this until the next day... So the rest had to come off.

I like it much better without them.

I have torn both front mud flaps off and at $175.00 each I have learned to be a little more careful...
