I just looked it up. 04 disks are 11.81" diameter and 05+ are 12.56" diameter. Just eyeballing it they looked the same, but I was wrong.

You could go with flat centers and run 2.5 or 3" BS and not have to run spacers.

I don't believe that to be true. Next time your tire is off have a look and you will see why that won't work. (Fat calipers). Plus flat centers are not streetable.

No way will flat centers work on the front of our trucks.

I was not aware of this... Why are they not streetable?

Also you get your rig up and running again?

Edit: just looked into the flat centers and they would work on drum brakes, but would not leave room for the caliper on disc brakes right? Are they not streetable because they don't like higher speeds or something though?

It is nearly impossible to weld the flat centers in without some warping which cause run out. This isn't an issue on a crawler. Even the pressed centers are not perfect and the whole wheel/tire package is not balanced. The other issue with beadlocks is centering the tire on the wheel, which doesn't help the situation. Not a road trip friendly tire/wheel package at all. Well, unless you are used to driving humvee's. ;)

Back to Apocalypto... I ordered a new driveshaft from Tom Wood's. It will be here Friday. Apparently when the old diff locked up it bent the ears on the driveshaft a little. Or maybe I did it in the rocks, dunno.

    Got ya. Good to know!

And sweet! Did you go with a 1 piece driveshaft or stick with a 2 piece?

Not worried about tagging it on rocks or anything? Probably less of a risk for you than me, but I have a separate rock crawling driveshaft just because I tag my 2 piece so much...

Nah, not really. If it happens my stock two piece still works, it just vibrates a little on the highway. It will be in the tool box as a spare.

That's what I do. My wheeling one is in the toolbox. Though it's only the rear lower piece since I never hit the upper piece. It fits somewhat nicely under my Hi-Lift.

So you going to have this thing back together in time to come school me at the St Anthony sand dunes on the 22nd-24th? ;)

Added some 120mm ammo cans to hold recovery gear, tools, fishing pole, etc. I had them in the cab in .50 ammo cans before, but always worried that if I flopped at speed those cans would end up embedded in my dome.

Even lined them with some classy camo carpet from the walmart so things don't rattle.

Also, caught a brookie in an unlikely spot. It was really shallow, and about three feet wide.

Brady what's going on at St. Anthony?

I asked in the other thread, but I'll ask here too. Are you not worried about people stealing your shit in those cans or can you lock them?

I'm headed to the dunes with my cousins on their dirtbikes again (Like in my sig pic). Well sounds like cousin. One has to work so it might just be him on his 450 Honda and me in my Taco.

Sounds fun, but I'll be busy scouting for archery season. Too many hobbies.

    A) I don't leave my junk unattended in janky areas.

    B) Even if I stop for lunch, I have eyes on and a clear line of sight to my truck within the effective range of whatever weapon I have on my person.

    C) I don't leave anything in there of great value. You want to steal my worn out snatch strap? Ok, I guess you need it worse than me.

It is possible to lock them with some mods- http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=10&f=17&t=641850

Got ya. That works. Luckily I'm not too worried in Idaho, but I still do try to keep all my shit locked up.

Do you have any issues with driveline vibes or driveshaft angle binding up with that flex since you have a low pinion 3rd member or did you rotate the diff up to the t-case when you set the spring perches? Digging that rear axle setup!

I ended up getting a tom woods one piece. I set up the pinion angle at zero degrees at ride height to match the T-case, so no, no vibrations. It's actually very streetable once you get used to the detroit locker.

Me too. It got a lot of crap out of the cab (tools, recovery gear, etc) that would have became missiles in a crash.
