I had no problems, but I made sure the defective leaf part numbers matched the ones on my truck before I went. Service adviser said he needed to consult toyota before he could do it. A week later, they were in stock and he did the work.

Removed the price sticker in the window, bobbed 6" off the mudflaps, debadged. TSB completed.
My dealer did the TSB after I forwarded them a gripe thread I started on this forum. Originally they turned me down.

They are listed in the 2008 TSB.. Which, you can get a copy here if you search for it.

The part number of the springs is written on the top of the springs; usually in yellow. Good luck, let us know how it goes and how you like the change afterwards. I am still just waiting, although the day I need to take my Harley on a road trip and the back is bottoming out, my wait will be over.

So the guy from corprate say he can't get it to bottom out with the 700 lbs load so it's not an issue. He says the "beefed" up the shocks for 09 and that is why they r not included in the tsb. I said that an inch of clearance isn't much when I am not even filled up to the capacity of the truck hit a good dip in the road at highway speeds and I would think that would bottom out. He says he drives trucks and they are usually not as stable with a heavy load which I always thought hat they r a bit more stable. He also said basically that sorry the truck could not meet your standards for a truck. Sort of disappointed that such a small clearance on. a load that is undercapacity is " alright" in their minds. He was gonna try and put a couple of guys in the back and try it again but who knows what he'll say

well just got a call saying that my springs are on order they got a few guys in the back of the truck with my sand and the guy from toyota was recording the suspension from under the truck i guess what he saw was enough to approve getting the tsb done to my 09. so hopefully that will help some of you other 09's out there.

Hidden GPS tracking system. Backflip cover, weather techs, bed mat, tailgate lock, OME 885 springs, blistein shocks, 2.5 in AAL/
I sent an email to Toyota Customer Satisfaction saying I had a load on it and drove 200 miles. Said I felt it was "very unsafe" and went on to say that I bought the truck to use as a truck not as a car.

Then I called the Customer Satisfaction number and complained again. I never mentioned the TSB although I knew about it and had already confirmed my springs were just like the 07-08 (My truck is an 09)
They gave me a case number after telling me about the TSD and said they would call my dealer.

Within a day, the dealer called and said they had me scheduled for the TSB job. I dropped the truck off (loaded with about 600lbs of tool boxes - locked under my cover). That afternoon I got it back with the TSB done.

Make sure they put the 4 leaf springs under it and the 4 Blistin shocks if you have an SR5.

It handles alot better with a load now!!!

This is what Toyota officially said about the improvements to the '09 models. I got this from the TIS.

TOYOTA TACOMA — OUTLINE OF NEW FEATURES
    Suspension
The characteristics of the normal and off-road shock absorbers on the 4WD and PreRunner models have
been optimized to improve driving performance.
The shape and strength of the rubber rear spring bumper used on the 4WD and PreRunner models have
been optimized to improve riding comfort.

Soooooo, the only thing that's been improved is the bump stop? Basically, the fail safe has been improved. Am I reading this right?

My point exactly. It's like an airline with a crash history putting better life vests and seat belts on the plane and claiming they've fixed the problem.

There are some people reporting that the 09's have been updated on T-SB-0305-08. This is not yet the case. I checked the TIS yesterday. Maybe in the future, but it hasn't been done yet.

If you are experiencing the harsh ride condition, you can confirm your trucks leaf-pack part numbers by examining the stenciled part numbers on top of the leaf springs. It is difficult to see but if you take a camera and place it over the rear tire and take some pics you should get them.

Also, I took pictures to show the underside of the bed of my truck. It is crystal clear that I am bottoming out because it can be seen where the rubber bump stops are hitting the bed. Pictures rule! It is hard to argue with them.

Next, compare the part numbers to the TSB to see if they are the same.

I know of one report (on this forum(or TN) I believe) where an '09 had a different 3-leaf pack. That is to say according to that owner who posted, that Toyota stopped using the weaker 3-leaf pack. We would need to know the VIN range and Plant origin and have more sample data to confirm that.

It is amazing how some people have no trouble having the TSB done on their '09's and some are having a hell of a time.

I hope to have mine done next week some time.

I went this morning and they said no. After 2 hours (no idea what took so long) the service guy came out and said the following...

Service Guy - I had 3 guys stand in the bed and it didn't bottom out.
Me - That was your test procedure? Have three guys stand in the bed?
Service Guy - They jumped up and down too.
Me - Oh ok, I didn't think it was that technical at first.

    *pause*

Me - So even if those three guys were fairly large at 200lbs each, that would give us a combined estimated weight of 600lbs. That's not even 1000lbs when the payload is 1570lbs.
Service Guy - Well we weren't able to get it to bottom out.
Me - Right, because your "test" was hopelessly inept. So what do I have to do to get this done; show up with the bed loaded up and ride in on the bump stops?
    Service Guy - Yes
    Me - Deal.
